The Todds has just given me the big ole self-extracting Red Groups to post on the site. Basically, the Red Groups are used to make things go faster when you're working on stuff in RED. Maybe this one question Q&A will explain better:

Q - "What is a "group and what is it used for?"
A - In Red, a group is a collection of brushes and/or objects. Groups can be used to easily export and import whole sections of levels. Groups are also used to create things like doors and lifts. These are called "mover groups". All Red groups use the ".RFG" extension. When you save a group in Red, you can save a single group or multiple groups. Saving a group in Red actually creates a "Master Group". A Master Group can consist of user-defined groups and/or mover groups. When you load a Master Group in Red, all the groups within the Master Group will be loaded and retain their individual names. A Master Group is an abstract concept. Master Groups don't really exist in the editor. Master Groups are only used for saving and loading multiple groups.

For example, say you have a room with two doors in it. You would first create a group that has all the room's brushes in it. We'll call this group "room001". Because the doors are already groups (they're mover groups), they will already have names. We will call these mover groups "door001" and "door002".

Now when you click "Save", this will bring up a dialog box showing all the groups in your level. You can select multiple groups by holding CTRL and clicking on the groups in the list.

After you have selected all the groups you want to save, click "OK" to save them as a master group. This will open up a "Save As" dialog. You can now change the name of the Master Group. When you have done so, click "Save". You have now created a Master Group that contains the room001, door001 and door002 groups.
