Straight from the presses, Mike B has responded to a thread on the VBB about security systems in complexes, and here's what he has to say:

Sometimes you'll know if a camera sees you, as an alarm will go off. Other times, you won't know until it's too late (unless you spot the camera quickly enough). It's sort of like the different theories about home and office security alarms. Some opt for noisy alarms that frighten off intruders, while others want silent alarms that give no clue until the police arrive.
