E-Mail: It's not everyday that...

...you get an E-Mail such as below.

Despite this fellow's very logical arguements, the nodechart used on the Twilight homepage is based off of Volition's canon with merely systems added featured in various campaigns.

It's a good read though, and makes you wonder about FS continuity:

"Hello. I just wanted to inform you that there are a couple of critical
mistakes in you map. The biggest error comes in connecting Ross 128 to
delta serpentis. As you recal the shivans invaded ross 128 first, this
means that they would have moved into Delta serpentis, and then Earth
acording to your map, which in no way can happen. Ross 128 should be
connected to Beta Cygni, if you follow the FS1 story closly.

Next There should be a jump node between Antares and vega. If you recall
the FS1 story that is how the shivans evaded the Terran blockade in antaras,
enabeling the Lucifer fleet to jump from vega to deneb, where the Galatea
was destroyed thus allowing them to enter Vasuda and ruining Vasuda Prime.

There should not be a jump node between beta aquile and vega. Again in the
FS1 story the Galatea and the Bastion entered the Deneb system from Beta
Aquilae. So there should be instead a jump node from beta aquilae to Deneb.

Next, there should be a jump node from Deneb to Altair. This is very
important because if you recall, the acient records that enabled the GTA to
destroy the Lucifer were recovered from altair. The only way they could get
there was through deneb, which means that there should be no jump node from
altair to aldebaren.

These corrections should be made in order to properly keep inline with the
FS1 and FS2 stories. Thanx"

Funny that... Beta Cygni has NEVER been connected to Ross 128

maybe he has forgotten the fact that there is only 1 node in R128...

well where did the Shivans come from

I'm having a little E-Mail discussion with this guy, he's bound and determined that Volition did the node map wrong based on fleet movements in FS1

Why is it that everyone E-Mails me questions and doesn't post them on the forum that they're meant for! pfeh!

Ummm...okay.

1) Many of the command briefings in FS1 were made in error compaired to the final story. The official node map, in which Ace and the rest of us has based their own maps off of, is the most correct one of them all.

This person should probably watch the FreeSpace 2 CB anims with the nodemap there because that one is quite correct and the FS2 story didn't have any problems with that.

2) He's assuming that if the player was not shown the system, the fleet wasn't there. You can get to Altair from Deneb with only a couple of jumps (is it 3 offhand?). The one mission was in Aldebarran anyways (with the science cruiser and the shuttles).

That's true, there are also a lot of things going on during the great war that we never heard about. (i.e. what truly happened on homeworlds such as Beta Aquilae when the Shivan forces poured through those systems?)

Is he forgetting that you are playing as one of millions upon millions of Terrans? There could have been extremely large fleets in those systems, but *YOU* weren't stationed there.

you never know, there could be nodes between those systems. the shivans are so much better at navigating subspace that they might have a more complete map of the nodes. aslo, while there might be more nodes out there, they could be so unstable that no terran or vesudan could even get a communications signal through, let alone a ship, as such they could have been left off of the general circulation maps and charts.

They might have ignored them That's also my assumption.

Also in FS1 though we know little about Capella, it isn't stated that the system is uncolonized.

Due to it's being a major population center in FS2, more than likely it was an outpost in the great war that remained unscathed.
