Another debate: Freespace vs Babylon 5!

This might be hard topic to discuss but
this could be very interesting...
so give it a shot

Shivans vs ISA?
or GTVA vs Shadows or maybe

GTVA and ISA vs Shadows and Shivans!!

Just think about Sathanas fleets combined with Shadow Battlecrab escort...
Sathanases front cannons would be nearly impossible to destroy when theres Battlecrabs around.
Colossus might slow them down a little but it would be soon cut to pieces like a sausage by Battlecrabs.

Nothing could stop them from destroying suns
and planets and eradicating some ****ty
alliances of small races like GTVA or ISA.
They would ROCK!

Pound for pound, I think the Shivans are more powerful than the Shadows. The Shadows would be a tough fight, but the GTVA could beat em. The ISA would fall pretty quickly to the Shivans. And...um yeah.

We know that the Shadows territory is somewhere in the galaxy. We don't even know if the Shivans main territories, if they have any, are in our galaxy.

I think there about the same, but the ISA seems to have a much greater chance to have internal problems, though GTVA have had a few internal problems them selves.
but as long as americans are dicideing the fate of these two universis in the end the good guys will win (sort of), unless it is deemed more prophetable for them to loose.

Wery hard topic to discuss.

B5 and FS2 ships are designed different things in mind. Most FS2 ships have firepower scattered all over the hull. But B5 ships have theirs pointing forward and aftwards.
Imagine: Orion in the middle of a group of Aeolus cruisers.
And Omega in the middle of a group of Aeolus cruisers.
Poor Omega...

Then again, B5 ships are lot faster. And they don't have to use jump nodes, they can go system to system without them

There is a limited number of vessels in the game. TBP won't support all B5-vessels AND the Freespace vessel at once.

I think this FS2 vs B5 discussion is something for fans who will make a mod for the TC . The team itself will definitely NOT go for it.

"Mixed" universes have never been a good idea...

I think it's best to always agree with Ice on these things, he gets into the technicalities, and you'll never win

if we had the source code
could we raise the ship limit so that
both universes ships could be there at the same time?

I love crossovers and I would love to do
missions where both universes ships were
present. Hell! I even have some kind of plot
for a campaign or fanfiction story:

Somebody in B5 univ. finds out about
parallel dimensions.
This somebody builds a gateway between dimensions B5 and FS
Shivans start pouring in to the B5 universe
from the gate.
Shivans Kick MAJOR ass in B5 univ.
Somehow GTVA finds out about this gate.
Somehow GTVA takes control and sends
forces to B5 univ.
GTVA makes friends with ISA in B5 univ and
they exchange tech.
GTVA and ISA Destroy all Shivans in b5 univ.
In the end GTVA forces return home and they destroy the gateway.

heh that was longer than I expected
too bad that I can`t Mod. or invent characters for story like this.

If you really wanted to, you can add some FS2 ships back in the tables even with all B5 ships installed.

The tables have room for about 110 to 120 ships...depending on the size of the table entry.

B5 only has about 60 cannon ships. A few more for us because we have a duplicate here and there and some stuff like cargo and stuff, but yeah...pretty big space to fill there.

if we're throwing other sci fi series into the mix lets see a sovereign class starship (Enterprise E - ship from first contact) take down a sathanus lets face it - they have sheilds and quantum torpedos that are to fast to shoot down and lets face it without sheilds phasers can rip through anything.

Freespace is funny like that - you'd think the top criterium (sp?) on the designers' minds was realism.

$%&^!! the Shivans ARE THE SHADOWS need proof! look at the Mara, Ravana, Rahaka, and Sthanas!!!!!!!!! as for beams going through sheilds is one of the things that neads to be fixed (game didn't need it because no cap's had sheilds!!)

I would say that the ISA would win but would have about 75% of there forces trashed!

Star trek gets killed becasue there bigest ship is (other than the borg cube) only about as big as a deimos, as for star wars they would be ok but ships have weeker hull (off set by there sheilds) but the lack of beams is their undoing!

The Sathanas is about 6 km long.

SSD = Super Star Destroyer/Shivan Super Destroyer (right?)
