NEW SHIPS!!!

ok what I miss in the FS universe is a pure Missile fighter that has abandoned most primary slots for secondary slots....

and its counterpart a pure energy fighter...

but what I really would like to see is able to controll a smaller CAPship like an Leviathan

Controling a capital ship you won't be able to do. We do have a ship that is more missile based than gun based...but then again, so is the Medusa and the Boanerges.

the eryniesiesi (cant spell it to save me life) is mainly primaries, whereas you get the bombers which are mainly missle based, just because they are bombers doesnt mean they cant carry masses of anti fighter missiles

I think what he means is a missle fighter, something with good manuverability (i think thats how you spell it), not a slow bomber.

Maybey something like a cross between a bomber and a fighter...a Fiber?

I've read Star Wars: StarFighters of Adumar, and I found something that would be nice to have.

Have you ever had an enemy on your tail, and wished you had a hard point in the rear? Then all you have to do is pull the trigger and...BOOOOOMMMM!!!!! The little Bastard goes up in flames. In the book they used Blade-32's which is a fighter like the Myrmidon. I know it would look weird to see a fighter shooting out the front and back at the same time, but if you add three slots instead of having two, you could make it where that 3rd slot would just fire in the back, then you wouldn't need to link it. Just switch over to it when somebody gets on your @$$ or if your attacking a Destroyer or Corvette where Lasers don't work in the first place. Then you wouldn't have to worry about your guys covering you.

How about a Anti Fighter Cap ship.No beams but more missle banks and anti fighter lasers.A mofified Aeoslus class crusier that offers anti fighter/bomber beams and missles to protech bigger vessals

Or a (non-flyable) ship with beam cannons with a shild without the Invincibility code. Its problably possable, but you would have to rewrite much of the software itelf...

Actually you can have shields on a cap with out rewriting the software. I don't how it is done, but go download the UA MOD Package.
And redoing an Aeolus to have all beams would be better than just missiles, flak, and lasers, which for most people including myself are no threat. And this can be done by either doing in FRED 2 manually or by editing the Tables Data. Since I'm too Lazy to mess with the Tables I just do it manually from within FRED 2 itself.

Won't work, because primaries always fire forwards.

balancing, you are a fighter pilot, not an uber 1337 quake 3 dmatch fighter g0d, you are in a bulk mass produced fighter, its easy enough wading through 100's of shivans but if everyone starts having guns pointing out the back you wont even have to dog fight anymore just fly in a straight line.....


and also the aolous is already super anti fighter tm ship its just got some anti cap beasm for added defence, its a convoy defence ship, its all well and good creating one purpose ships, but then they got cacked on by everything else, the best ships in the games are the ones that can do multiple tasks, such as the hecate and the demios

Well, it was worth a shot. So how come the Shivan bombers have them in the rear? Or is that just a turret that can't move very far on either side?

Actually, a design worth thinking about is a fighter with low speed, high manueverability, small forward cannons, but designed with multiple turrets on it's hull.

Since turrets track your current target, you can in effect fight two vessels at once. (have your targeting computer track a ship above, behind, or below you, and manually fire at the ship you want to dogfight)

Such a vessel would be designed for defense of course, and the wingmen AI works very well with turrets.

first a thanks to all who bothered with my silly post you know who you are 8)...

and secondary to Mr Carrot... and excactlly what difficulty do you play on whimpy?
id like to see you take on 100 maras as you posted you could on insane skill... not nowbie skill

and flying in a straight line your cannon fodder matey perhaps on nowbie skill you can pull that off but not on Insane

not that I trash you fighting skills Mr Carrot but 100 shivan fighters...

and about that quake3 uber god... you know fighter pilots can handle other crafts than just fighters like bombers interceptors etc etc so what makes a total gunship any diffrent from a bomber you just focus firepower on energy weapons instead of explosive payloads....

is pissed and needs someone to hassle.....

no i mean in the campaign how many kills have you got, a couple of hundred at the VERY least now what im saying is that if you are to have a challange in taking out that 1 wing of 4 maras the designers and the game universe has to balance, remmber the shivans are the great destroyers etc. etc. they should not be pushovers.

On a second note there are gunships in the game already,the ares, its a 1 supar!

ok this is a uppgrade of Ace's suggestion

its based on the Medusa chassi
its called Medusa Mk x (experimental)

on the missile holders you can put 2 turrets on each one on the top and 2 on the underside

in the back you could replace the turret with 2 turrets

on the undercarridge you can place 1 turret

a total of 9 turrets the drawback would be most of the secondary banks has to go for balance
