I dunno how well this would work with the story and all , but listen anyway:

The "constructer" of the Shivans is not a race. It is the same constructer of the universe (no not god). The Big Bang.
The mixture of matter etc.. all at high speeds and all the facters went together to create a stupid little being. They had all the time in the universe to evolve into what they are today.

They hate subspace. The see the terrans as a threat because they may someday take the universe, that they beleive is theres (because they've been around the longest).

They are not evil killing machines , its quite obvious. They destroyed Capella to show the Terrans and Vasudans , this is our territory. You stay on yours no problem. You step on ours , and well just look at Capella.

80 Juggernaughts is enough to kill the GTVA easily. They didn't , because they are not killing machines....

Hmm, anylysing the Fs Universe in terms of Subspace, Terrans vasudans, Physiscs etc is all very well but I belive the whole 'Mystery' of the Shivans is integral.
I for won dont care to know why they destroyed Capella, Ive never wondered, im far more concerned as to why Bosch was alowed to live. Once Shivans get predictable, they get dull. Letting Bosch live is about a goody goody as they should get.

I disagree. Creation of the universe - 15 billion years ago give or take a few billion. By this time the Shivans would've died out anyway because of ennui if anything else. They'd proly have ascended into a higher form and be totally outside our sphere of existance. This is my POV

This one sinks like a battleship with no hull. There is no evidence that they hate subspace. If anything they're somehow tied to it, subspace ties in with their existance.

Good idea here. You cannot go around suggesting that everything that tries to wipe your species out of existance is evil... I didnt mean that sarcastically. There may be a very good reason for why they're smacking our asses around the galaxy.

The thing that wins wars is intelligence - not brain intelligence, I mean battle field intel. How powerful your opponent. What is he capable. The Shivans proly wanted to gauge our strength, what was our most powerful vessel etc etc. They were cautious parhaps because of the "Ancients".

The Ancients said they were losing but they give much of an indication of how badly they were losing. It could be that the Shivans were going toe to toe with the Ancients and it was just sheer numbers that brought the Ancients down. Thus the Shivans were wary of the species that turned on Knossos - built by the Ancients.

There isnt much evidence to support the notion that they are or arent killing machines. But please bear in mind that their exo-skeleton had a plasma weapon built in...

I am so with you dude. I was working on a theory on why they only sent one juggernaught to probe us. If you look at the juggernaughts shape, you'd see that it is possible to join several of them together and keep on adding. It could be that all the juggernaughts could all be joined together into a latice network to form a moon sized planet.

It would be very lousy to have my idea tho coz it would support the idea of a hive mind, and I HATE THAT IDEA. Unless one of you can give a very good idea on why they SHOULD be a Hive mind.

Yeap. Its faster. Pays back in the amount of traveling time and fuel costs that's reduced.

There has to be some equipment for communication via telepathy to make a hive mind (the Internet wouldn't work with no modems). Since the Terrans have done studies on Shivans, they'd possibly know if the Shivans were even capable of that. Not necessarily though. It is unlikely that humans could recognize what Shivan technology did anyway (although the SoC did somehow manage to modify a Shivan fighter and keep it working). The easiest way to find out would be to detect any transmissions - and that's reliant on whether the 'drone' cut itself off from the hive mind anyway.

On a side note - half of those ads suck bad. :P

Yes ... you are right on. None of the staff is independantly wealthy, so we can't host it ourselves ... even if we weren't on TF, we would still have ads just so you peeps could be here ranting about the origins of the Shivans

Strangest theory:

There was once a mad scientist who like to experiment with live explosives. One day his lab caught on fire and he died. His ghost wandered space until he walked to Shiva, the Shivan's homeworld. In Shiva, he killed tons of Ancients, and then took their body parts and a glue stick, and glued the first Shivan together. The Shivan took the scientist's cannon and shoved it into his mouth, so now he would be armed.
