Hi all !

Most of you, I think, have already read The Freespace Reference Bible, and you all want to see what they have not published in fs1 or fs2, right? Me too. So I'm asking people who can contact Volition Inc. and Freespace Team,(because I've tried ,but have no answers) and tell them my questions :
"If there will be the CD where will be movies, missions and other stuff that was not included in published games?Will the continue of the Freespace saga be or not?" If there will be no continue of the Freespace saga, I would like to start Freespace 3 game by myself (greets any help) and thank all Freespace Team for this Superb Game. And my special thanks goes to people who composed a music to FS.Thank you!

P.S.: When I for the first time run FS:the Great War Trailer I was shocked...This is the greatest game I've ever seen! Freespace Forever!!!

Because THQ has bought Voition now V cannot make a game and publish it with THQ since Interplay holds the rights of FS. The most logical move will be this. THQ buy the rights from Interplay and then make FS3, if they dare, and also make better advertisment of the game so the game will sell. The game has receive many accolades is all down to the publisher to push it in the market or not.

And don't flame people, it's not very nice.

Quite frankly, I don't WANT your Freespace 3, if it's not made by Volition. Because then it will probably end up crap. Only [V] has the insight to the story, and the meaning to everything. Anyone else's guesses would be just pure speculation.

I do want FS3. I also read this board regularly, and have seen lots of other people trying to start their own FS3. None of them were Volition. Neither are you. Hence the desire NOT to see you make a FreeSpace 3

I'm what you may consider a newbie here on this forum, and may not have the experience and wisdom of those who've been here longer but here's what I think:

I am sorry to say that defeatism is not the way to go. That sort of attitude stinks and gets you no-where.

IRS-Ekzar Kan, I fully support your initiative. That you've begun the move is commendable. Should you need help in any way, I'd be happy to help though I have little experience or skills that you may desire.

The reason I'm supporting IRS-Ekzar Kan is because I've seen first-hand the results of a sustained, coordinated and inspired effort - DERELICT. This FS2 mod is definitely commercial quality even at a meager 1.3MBs. Besides Derelict, there has a been a notable number of great efforts - the macross mod for one. I havent gotten around to playing all of them but what I have seen so far is encouraging.

The bright side is that if the mod is of sufficient high quality, the team could get recognition from the industry and possibly land job (yes, i'd love to work in the game development industry). The best possible scenario is that Interplay recognizes that FS is still a worthy product to continue.

The worst case scenario is that you'd just break up and discontinue the work, no loss there - maybe you'd loose some time but hey.

As an ardent fan of FS, that would be great.

You're welcome to try. I think a lawsuit from Interplay is what you need

Why not just make a completely new game? If they release the FS2 source code, you might be able to base it off that.

Hey, I know - I want to make a Half Life 2, cause I think Valve will take too long!

What, you think I'm crazy? But look at all the things I have going for me - my Half Life 2 will use an oold, outdated game engine, I have little or no experience in making whole games, and I haven't got anywhere near the quailty, experienced team that any game developer has. I also don't have rights to the Half Life license, so I'm probably going to be sued for lots and lots of money!

See my point? It's not defeatist, just common sense. On the other hand, if you have got the ability to write your own engine, you have an experienced team, and experience yourself in game making, why are you stealing Volition's game? Make an original one yourself!

sigh... AK, you got a point. And no, you absolutely dont "publish" it. That would be stupid. What you can do is make a quality mod, something with great depth in story and design and have it posted online free. That's why Freespace got FRED along with it.

You could at least try; i've seen lots of interesting ideas for story plots floating around on this forum. I've also seen that each of us have distinct personalities which would be great to have as in-game characters.

If the mod is of sufficient quality to appeal to the masses, then Interplay may re-consider and allow for another FS.

Mods are good, and it's a valid point - community makes enough mods and shows enough interest, Interplay wakes up and decides to license another FS, we hope they get a decent developer to do it (since it doesn't look like Volition will).
