Howdy... new poster.

Ok, so the way I understand it, the source for Freespace 2 was made open, essentially making the game legal to download. (Which I did, from HOTU.) Does that make the cutscenes legal to download too? If so, is there anywhere on the net I can dl them from? Will there be any particular procedure for getting Freespace to "see" the cutscenes so it can play them?

Or, is this all kinda futile and that's the point of all the "Where can I buy Freespace 1/2" threads?

check that out, that's as far as we got with the cutscenes part IIRC.


EDIT: you might want to see if someone is ready to uplaod the original mve files somewhere, that would give you the cutscenes, but in mve those things are huge.

and if someone is willing, drop me a line, i am using some form of rip right now.

also, you already have full voice and music, right?

and do you have all the cb anis?

I've the current HOTU release - just downloaded it last night. Haven't explored the game in detail ^_^;; just wanted to secure as complete a game as possible before I started in on it. I noticed there was a metric butt-ton of .wav files unpacked in the zip, so I'm thinking I have full voice and music, as well as the ending movies promised by HOTU. Dunno about the anis.

You won't have full voice or music cause the HotU version doesn't have them.

Have a look at my FAQ for lots more info about the HotU version.

As for the cutscenes, you will have the 3 ending cutscenes but the rest are missiing. Stryke 9 is working on a way to get them into a different format (DivX IIRC) over on HLP. If he can get that to work the movies will be playable using the SCP version of FS2 (that's the version of FS2 using the improvements that have been added since the source code was released).
