Recuiting... again
Due couple sad things, I'm forced on recuiting again.
Anyway, Honour of Omega is recuiting and hoping that with this I might be able to bring couple persons aboard on project.
Anyway FREDers are needed and couple renderers, since I haven't sighted Ashrak lately (renderers on consideration still).
So any willing FREDers to work, contact me via e-mail

You might be able to use Maya models but you'll probably need to do a lot of work converting them first. That's why the TBP team are making their own models from scratch (cause it's quicker in the end than converting most of the time).

Maya models range in the thousands or hundreds of thousands or millions of polys. FreeSpace 2 models range typically between 200 and 750 for most ships plus turrets and that sort of thing. Most large scale TBP capital ships are less than 1200 polys in total.

Maya can also be used for low poly game models though, so if you want to make models in maya then that's possible.. though they have to be put into truespace after that.
It's what I do with max.

or you could do what I do, and make your models in caligari truespace, it's seriously not that hard to use when you get the hang of it.

True!
But if they are talking about Maya converts of things like the BlueStar (Nadab's BlueStar model) then no, that won't work

Well yeah.
Michael Shumacker could drive around the circuits in an austin metro, it's just it's not as good as the F1 ferrari he normally uses.
