Where Can I Buy?

About a year ago I bought Freespace 2, specifically for the B5 mod. I played the mod over and over and over because I thought it was so good. However, we needed to clear alot of memory off the computer and unfortunately, Freespace 2 had to go as it was one of the biggest programs on the PC. I then made the big mistake of selling the game...now, I see the screenshots of Release 2 and I find myself desperately wishing I hadn't sold it... Does anybody know where I can buy it in the UK? I've checked on as many game sites as I can find and it's never in stock. I've looked in ever games store I can find but it's never in stock there either Help!

I had the same problem.

After R1 played Freespace again, before it was lost somewhere in my cupboard. Then, shortly before R2, CD 2 got damaged.

Do the same i did: Download it. I prefer [edited] for this. There I downloaded the hole game new because only downloading CD 2 didnt work.

Sorry, no warez discussion here. Although the game is pretty much considered abandonware, it is not officially that.

This was a warning, you can discuss where it can be bought from. But use email or PM for "other means".

I spotted it on ebay a little while ago but it was quite spensive I'm afraid. One of those rare and sought-after games.

Hey Mr. Fury I know we can't mention Warez here but is the HotU version considered Warez? Cause I've seen plenty of topics mention it both here and on HLP and I've never seen any complaints.
Hell, I even edited my FAQ to include links to it even though I'd never mentioned any Warez sites.

I think we can consider HotU as an exception.

If there are any computer game shops near where you live, you could go in and ask if they can order it for you. It's probably best to try one of the larger brands (rather than some independent retailer) but whats the worst than could happen?

There is a branch of games called "GAME" with a shop near-by. I've asked them to order me another one but they kept saying we'll get it in 1-2 weeks...and then they called later and said they didnt think they'd be getting it in anytime soon.

As for downloading it, I don't know if I'd be able to. My iccle 56k modem has trouble staying connected for 20 minutes sometimes and I dread to think how long it would take to download a full game.

I see what you mean about it selling on eBay! I think what I'll probably end up doing is saving up my money and then just buying it from there.

You'd best get your copy of it now as it won't stay on ebay for long.

Hmmmm...they are usually alot more than that...
*Clicks "Watch this item" repeately*

I bet the prices on these rise quickly though; I once saw a copy go for more than £50...

There's a copy of the game in German. The case is slightly broken as well. Does this mean that the game will only play in German? Or just the manual do you think? Will the software being German affect whether I am able to run the mod? If it will run the mod, I'm bidding

Everybody cross your fingers for me

I think the german version is a translated version. The TBP text wouldn't be in german, but the whole rest of the game would be.

Well I'd probably only use the game for the mod anyway. I played the game when I first had it and I enjoyed the mod just as much, if not more, than the game itself...so having a German copy of the game wouldn't bother me all that much-so long as the mod would still work ok.

Greco: Unfortauntely, I don't think my iccle 56k modem would handle a file that big. Although I use Flashget, it would still take a very long time to download. Thanks anyway though.

If you can't get the HotU download how did you manage to get hold of R2 then?

I haven't downloaded R2 yet. It's a smaller file than FS2 as well which will be easier to download.

I didn't use HotU to download R1...

My point is that R2 is around 200MB in size while the HotU version of FS2 is around 250MB in size.

If you can't download one you probably can't download the other.
