Freespace and Ender (or any other Orson Scott book)

I seem to have noticed that there is some similarity, aside from space and all, between Freespace (1&2) and the Ender series (I always had the notion that Enders Game happened after the Lucifer blew up). I mean, it would totally make sense if the buggers reffered to were the Vasudians... or maybe the Shivans (after all, they did have two strikes...maybe even a third).

Probably, the only thing I think that is different is that, while with your fleet, they sorta feel more disconnected rather than a team. I hear alot of inflight chatter, but there's little acknolegement of the Alpha leader or any other respecable captain... Or perhaps you only play as a part of a toon? Either way, I'd like to see somebody come up with a mission/campaign based on the Ender series...

This post looked so lonely, i felt the need to respond....

Yeah i noticed that too, and at the risk of sounding even nerdier than i actually am(a level of dorkiness to which you all can only aspire) I think it would make a good campy

The lack of response to a leader is obviously because Alpha 1 cant respond. Usually, its Alpha 2 or Beta 1 or Gamma 1 and so on that will take command. Otherwise, they'll say "Alpha 1, proceeding to..."

A toon in EG consists of about 20 boys. But you must remember, its not just the game: they're training to be generals and admirals. Their purpose is totally different from the purpose of the pilots. And, tactics and strategies differ. Boys may shoot their legs, but theres no way to defend yourself when your piloting.

The Shivan-bugger reference cant be said to be wrong, nor can it be said to be correct. We just dont know enough about Shivans to make a reasonable connection between the two.
