Campaign and effects carrying over

Hello, my name is Kyouryuu.

Some of you might know me better as Solrazor.

I have a little campaign in the works that's progressing very nicely.

But I have a question.

Alright, first, since I've only ever done single missions in the past, I'm a bit unfamiliar with the Campaign editor. I understand how you link missions together, but I need to better understand how you can carry status effects over from one mission to another. Like, suppose if a ship in a previous mission had > 40% health, it would hae 50% health in the next mission. Now, I figure the "is-goal-true" tag has something to do with this, and I'm supposed to specify the filename of the mission in question, right? Now, if a player is going through a campaign in an order besides the default (e.g., they just choose to play the third mission from the Mission Simulator), then how do these pre-set goals carry over if the preceding mission never happened?

That's about all I have to ask.

Hey Solrazor. I'm trying to remember where you're from; didn't you run a Descent mod/website or something? Nyway:

I know that there's a carry-over status checkbox in the ship properties dialog for red-alerts. As far as the mission simulator goes, if it's an individual mission you start off at whatever stats you're given in FRED. If it's a campaign mission you're replaying, I think it saves your stats and applies them to that mission when you replay it.
