FS2 sequel (again)

Spam-free this time, people.

Current tally:
D3: 66%
FS2: 25%

Go have a look at this thread on descentbb.net...
http://www.descentbb.net/ubb/Forum20/HTML/003269.html

Read the email response that someone got. It's interesting. Key quote:

quote:
The poll currently on the front page of Interplay.com regarding some of the Descent games was posted out of curiosity. Our goal was to see, out of those 4 titles, which one the community felt the strongest about. As for what may result from this information, I cannot say at this time.

When the poll is over, we don't usually post the results. Our polls run Monday to Monday, so, to get the closest snapshot of the leader, just visit interplay.com Monday morning, before 10:00am PST. It's normally changed after 11:00am PST.

To sum it up: we all are Parallax fans and a final 50% to 50% would have been a most noble task to achieve for BOTH communities and a sweet image for sure... but as usual a "me first" thinking led to nothing more then some childish rivalry

I got an email back from the webmaster saying "we know the poll is flawed, we're working on a better one"..

BTW if the poll was only to see the community's interest, then both games won, since they both generated (I think) alot more interest and votes than Initerplay would expect for such old games..

It's dead obvious the community is nuts over both games, to the point where... this stuff is happening. They've got a winner either way, but FS3 would appeal to a larger market.

yeah, actually if i could choose between D4 and FS3 i don't know what i'd go for, although it would probably be FS3, cause we've already got 3 descent games, and only 2 freespace

well, why don't we get a spam bot like the descent boys did?
I don't think there would be any moral delema we are just proveing that there are some lines we won't cross for our game and none for the descent fans,
personaly there is nothing I would not do for an FS3

no amount of voting regularly is going to beat any amount of spam bots they may have.

I'm with bob.

true, but at least we'll know we didn't cheat.

and we have no evidence they cheated, so don't accuse them

Let me say it one more time: The Descent community is not using a voting bot. There are simply more people that play Descent and enjoy it than people who play FreeSpace. Games with stronger initial sales and better multiplayer tend to retain players longer than games with weaker initial sales and a focus on singleplayer. Furthermore, any people who haven't played either game and saw the post on Blues News are more apt to vote for Descent, simply because first person shooters have been more popular than sims for....ummmm....ever.

The reason that individual votes are doing so little right now is because both sides have been stuffing the ballot. When FreeSpacer A and Descenter B have each put in 500 votes, honest-voter C isn't going to do anything to the statistics when his one vote gets cast. Considering both sides have numerous people doing varying amounts of poll stuffing, the effect on each vote's impact is that much worse.
