Omega decals and Fred 2

U know how on the bottom of the bow of the Omega it says the first letter of the ships' name? Well, how does this work in FRED 2? Did you modify FRED 2 to automatically put the decal with the first letter of whatever you named the ship in FRED 2?

At the moment the ships with different nameplates are whole different models. Source code project will eventually come up with a solution for custom names, but at the moment you'll have to do with the selection given.

Some times it really feels that you would be magic workers

At least when R2 comes out

I said "selection", that implies multiple choices...
I don't know the exact available choices, but check the Omega ingame shots thread. You'll see there are several different Omegas there, each with their own nameplates and respective letters on the lower front hull. I'd say there will be enough variety to choose from.

I didn't think the letter had anything to do with he ship's name.
I always thought it was some sort of fleet designator.

I ran into a site some time back that pretty much assured everyone that the letter seemed to change its role many many times remaining completely inconsistent and arbitrary.

Probably a fleet indicator, sometimes a name indicator...goodness knows what

There is no answer....(or a spood for that matter!).

Fleet indicator would probably be a good idea... It's weird to see a big O or some other unfamiliar letter in there in the screenshots - you never saw a ship with those in the show. :)

What, nobody wants to see a big Q on the side of a ship? Or how 'bout an L?
