RF2 PS2 Demo impressions...
So I've heard all this news about a demo, and haven't gotten my hands on it or know anyone who does. Can someone who's gotten a hold of it talk about their impressions, assuming someone on here has actually gotten it?
Thx.
PS - I'm back! My wife just gave birth to a beautiful baby boy so the past few weeks haven't been spent with me on the computer. But I've changed more diapers already than I care to mention.

As far as I know, they're still in the sign-up phase and not shipping them out just yet.
If I get one, I'll let you know how it goes.

My impressions.....the graphics are really, really cool. The physics are devine. The AI is too easy. The geomod gives an even more satisfying blast. I like the grenade launcher.....a lot.
I'm still wrapping my brain around the PS2 controllers. The last console system I was any good at was Sega Genesis.
I want more.

hm... the AI seems to be a constant in RF titles. Hopefully they can make them smarter... or more realistic?

Just like the BF1942 bots. Totally incompetant when it comes to teamwork, but capable of putting a shell from a tank's main gun into your head at a thousand meters on their first try

AI's are never, ever, as good as the best human players.

Umm, I'd say the best AI can't ACT like the best human players, but the best AI can sure beat the best human player.
Example, in GoldenEye for the N64â„¢, after u beat the game in every way, a new mode becomes available whci hallows u to tweak the AI settings, for example, their accuracy, which can be set from 0% to 100%.
No human player has 100% accuracy, thus, the best AI can beat the best human.
I would elaborate more, but sleep beckons to me.
If their is any contestation, I would be happy to discuss it.
And no, it didn't just set the bullets to go around corners to hit the player.

I'll just wait for it to come out in Europe, and then nick a friend's PS2 for a day and rent RF2.

Giving an AI perfect accuracy doesn't make it better than a human. It's still limited by its AI control routines, which can be learned and exploited. It's how Xaero is beatable in Q3A - he *never* misses with that damn railgun, but you can still beat him.
It's the combination of accuracy, unpredictability, and not playing by a fixed set of rules and routines that gives human players the edge over an AI, every time.

True...but if you just put the AI and a human player on a flat plane and expect the human to win against a perfect AI, its going to be dang hard.
But your right, introduce complex tactics in a three dimensional world and the AI falls flat on its face. Not even chess champion computers can deal with that.
