Sidewinder FF2 and FS2
I jsut picked up a new ff2 today and I can't get it to work with FS2. I had to get it because MS will not release new game controller software for the old ff for XP so I couldn't adjust the forces. Well now I can adjust the forces on this but it does not work in game. I set the profile system for it to the preset FS2 one and it doesn't work. Even in game the controls for direction say joystick/ mouse axis. Anyone know what is going on? Did anyone have to create their own profile for the stick or something?

I hate to point a finger right away...but you're probably doing something wrong. Case in point. The first time I setup my original Sidewinder joystick in Win98 with FreeSpace, it didn't find it. I later realized that I didn't let FS2 look for it (go to the setup screen and choose joystick). I also didn't have the basic game control profile setup in Windows...but that should have been done with the new one.
Knowing this, my Precision 2 installation was a snap.

I found the problem this morning. FS2 was set to pick up the joystick but I had my gamepad set to have priority over the joystick in windows so it was taking over.

The original Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro........RULES!!
Well said, Black Sheep 2000.
Actually, problems are probably caused by USB connection and software - I have a feeling that the software translates inputs into keyboard commands, which would be unwieldy, but I am glad that the Sidewinder FF 2 works for you, as my dad needs a new joystick and is considering that model.
Finally: sorry for sending it off topic.

First I tried dual booting XP with ME and then with 98se. Both ME and 98se(both updated) were having issues on this machine and crashed all the time so I broke down and bought the FF2 and aside from that one prob I have very happy with it. Oh my old FF1 isn't going anywhere. Putting that baby on the rig downstairs. That one is still running 98 on it and my stepdad is planning on putting a few flight sims on that machine so now he has a great joystick to use.
