I play both Frespaces and I have all three Descents
I just downloaded and played the RF demo and I plan on buying it

Considering Parallax and Outrage were the two companies that made Descent games, at Volition Watch, I'm not surprised

Now, admittedly V has a lot of Parallax alums, but V by themselves hasn't made a Descent game.

killadonuts: I believe the original agreement between Outrage and Volition when they split from Parallax was that the two companies would "trade off" making Descent games, and Outrage would start; so Outrage made D3.
While Outrage did that, Volition made Freespace (which took the Descent name due to copyright concerns with a drive-space utility) and when that was well-recieved, they put out Freespace 2.

After Freespace 2, V considered concepts for D4, but D4 never got past that phase. V decided not to do D4 at all, but instead started Red Faction -- obviously, a totally seperate game.

I sort of came to the same conclusion.
If they were gonna do D4 it probably would've happened by now

[V] (or <O>) games that I own...

Descent
Descent 2
Descent 3
FreeSpace
FreeSpace 2 - still play multi... occasionally
Red Faction - still play multi... very rarely, due to the lack of good servers

I would get RF2 if it was coming out for the GameCube or PC. Maybe not so much the Summoner games...
