Hardware

this doesnt have anything to do with RF....well it might remotely....anyway I was planning on upgrading my pc eventualy and im having trouble deciding between more memory or a new video card. i currently have 256mb RDRam and a GF 3 Ti 200, 1,8ghz. i was thingking about 512 or maybe a 1gb of ram......2 would be better......anyway, or a GF 4 4200or 4 4400. so any suggestions would be nice.

I would wait till after new years on the video card, just to see what nvida comes out with to compete with the radeon. Any gf3 is more than capable of handling any games out now, and any on the horizon.

So basically get some more ram and wait on the vid card.

yeah if worried that I get anymore more than 1gb of ram i wont be able to tell the difference and it will be such overkill (yes there is a thing) and is which card are you talking about 4400 or 4200? and will the 128 over 64 be enough differnce to be worth it? oh and i know about the Radeon 9700 sounds killer. but i hear ATI has more compatibility and software issues than nvidia cards.

well im wurkin on a budget of about 600-700$ for hadware (hey parents are good fer something) im thinking about 1gb rd, and a GF4 Ti 4200 64/128mb cant decided btween those 2. so what do yall think? and why does everybody like ddr so much when rambus is still better? (although next year ddr will probly be faster than rambus) and what is the best motherboard currently avaible? anybody know?

you have impecable timing quazar... about 1 month ago (to the day) i posted a HUGE thread/reply with all kinds of upgrade tips for mobos/procs/video cards and ram choices.

DDRAM is better at the moment because most newer hardware only supports DDR. It would be nice if they supported both. Ex: my mobo only takes DDR 2100 to 2700, no SDRAM or RDRAM.

if threads weren't purged (because it was a different forum for a different site) i could find it for ya :\

If you do this, bear in mind that you will need an OS upgrade if you're currently running Windows 98. Win98 can't really manage more than even 256Mb RAM and it just gets worse above 512Mb. If you're currently running 2000 or XP (as you really should be anyway) then ignore my rambling...
