The ships' subsystems

Volition was a little sloppy with the subsystems.

The Engine is the propulsion system. If destroyed, the ship will be inmobile. If damaged the ship will be slower.

The Weapons is the fire control. It coordinates when, where, and how the turrets must shoot. It acts with the help of the Sensors and the Navigation. If destroyed, the turrets will act independently, causing inaccuracy (because they lost the Sensors and Navigation support) and slower rate of fire (they are controlled manually). If damaged, some important crew members will die.

The Sensors is the detection center. It detects and investigates the ships around it. If destroyed, the ship will be blind unless a friendly ship with a functional Comm and Sensors subsystems transmit sensor data.

The Navigation is the navigation control. It controls the Engine. If destroyed, the crew must take manual control of the Engines, wich do not allow turning. Here are some important crew members.

The Comm is the communications system. If destroyed, the ship can't receive or send any information via radio.

The Bridge is the second most important subsystem in the ship (only present in big ships). It coordinates all the subsystems. If destroyed, the Captain of the ship may die.

The Reactor is the most important subsystem in all the ships. If destroyed, the ship is dead. All the subsystems and turrets can't function. The ventilation system and the temperature system are inactive, causing the death of the ship's crew. If you want to capture a ship, destroy this subsystem and the ship will be yours.

I'm sorry AA, it may be the time of day, but I really fail to see your point.

Um.... methinks Nav would be the course plotting, not engine control. ... engine control would be done by the bridge or some other section using the data from Nav. Especially as a C.O. would have to approve course changes, etc.
