Freespace 1 & 2 Difficulties
Hi,
I have noticed that on INSANE difficulty, the AI ships have UNLIMITED Afterburner energy or EXTREMELY fast recharge rates, which is unfair.
I used to play FreeSpace and FreeSpace 2 online, but got fed up with people playing it on INSANE.
All they care about is the points.
I want to have fun, and you can't have fun if you get killed by the AI within 2 seconds of being shot at.
Personally, i think whoever says that they have finished the entire FreeSpace 2 Campaign on INSANE difficulty is a downright liar.
Because on INSANE difficulty, a Cap-Ship's Anti Fighter Beams take of like 20% of Hull regardless of shields.
Also, the fighters are 100% more manuverable and have faster recharge rates for shields, weapons AND Afterburner, if not unlimited.
So far, on INSANE difficulty, i have yet been able to blow up a chunk of rock, since i don't live long enough to get to a chunk of rock.

Yeah, I have to agree with you there. I'd have to see someone play it through on that setting to believe it.
(Why am I always first to answer your posts? Hmm )

well, i can't pass the 1st mission on INSANE.
thats how crap i am. lol
So, i have edited the FS1 missions and changed all the required areas so it doesn't crash.
Also, changed it so i am Invulnerable.
So now, i can play it on Medium.
Or basicly any level i wanted.
But Medium is good enough.
HARD & above difficulties has the enemy ships shooting at you every second.
Also on HARD & above i have noticed that there isn't a single second you ain't getting shot at.
So, whoever says they have finished the whole game @ INSANE level is a sad liar.
I am a cheater and proud of it......i don't cheat on MP games like CS and games like that.
I just suck at them
But i have seen such ovious cheaters on CS.
one time i saw someone get:
57 kills (all headshots)- 5 deaths
I know people can be pretty good at this game, but come on, 57 kills and all of them being headshots.........no one is that good unless you are playing against bots that do nothing but stand there.

I can play FS1 on medium (thats the next one up from easy isn't it? If not, then wahtever is the next one up from Easy) but only up until the last mission, that would own me something cruel. I did manage to complete it once, which was amusing because I actually died. I went up to tell my brother something and came back to find the closing cinematic playing. My Wingmen had killed the Lucifer without me! Bastards.

Thats the funny thing about it: I was dead. It was displaying the screen with the "Quick Start Mission" and "Return to Main Hall" or whatever on it. What happened was before my untimely demise we had got the Lucifer down to only one reactor and if you notice, the action keeps going after you die. What must of happened is that the Wingmen had destroyed the last reactor and the "Mission complete" flag must be weighted higher than the "Player dead" flag which is what Triggered the cutscene. Even funnier was the fact that it also set the "Campaign finished" flag meaning I couldn't even have another crack at it, I had to start the campaign over.

I have reached only that darn "Kill Ravana" mission with INSANE...
I assure it was hard... REALLY hard. Remember that mission where there are two Leviathan and Psamtik comes and blast 'em up. It took 12-20 tries
When reached to Ravana mission had 21 new kills...
