Freespace 3 or story continuation?

I would like to know if there will ever be a freespace 3, from what I hear that will be not ...If anyone has anything official on this subject please reply...if or if not....does anyone know if the original creators left any cliff notes or wrote anything down on a freaking napkin about what happens next in the storyline or why did the shivans blow up that star at the end of freespace 2 or if earth node is ever opened up? If any of the origianl creators or anyone knows any of this please reply...I would really appreciate it...to get rid of some suspense that I suspect might never go away. Oh yeah, please, if you reply add if your telling me something official or unofficial as in your guess.

This is an old story, but what the heck.

Interplay owns the copyright to Freespace. Interplay is now owned by Titus (Vivendi?).
Volition develops for THQ. THQ is not Titus, so the two are competitors. Therefore, THQ would have to dig the Freespace license out from Titus, then get V to develop the game, then market and sell it.

That's a lot of money, and to be perfectly blunt, space-sim games are NOT a big moneymaker these days. At the moment, it's not financially feasable for THQ to go to that trouble to sell a game which will, in all honesty, not sell a ton of copies.

However, Volition would love to do an FS3, if the situation was right. A lot of V people have said they'd do one instantly if they could -- which leads me to believe they have, at the least, sketched out where the plot would go after FS2. Those details, though, haven't been released.

Wait till I'm done college, I'll be pulling down a hundred grand a year. I'd be glad to postpone my Delorean purchase for FS3.

Not really....I mean a proper conclusion that actually takes in account of the events in FreeSpace and FreeSpace 2, tries to explain them and provide some sort of definitive conclusion.

I've been working on a storyline for something like that since FreeSpace 2 came out. I've played the game looking for the details. Now I think I'm close to being able to tell that story properly.

I'm already quite mad...so its a perfect fit. And I've already got it all figured out....everything that needs to be figured out. They should ALWAYS remain a mystery.
