I need help.....
OK here's the deal....
This is the best game I've ever played and I want to learn about modding, FRED2, etc..
Could some of you peeps be so kind as to point out or post links to any reference material, software programs etc... to help me get started. I thank you in advance for all your help
One other thing.... its about the source code, I'm looking for any information to help me get started in learning all this.
BTW, I have lots of free time to take up these new hobbies.
Again, Thanks!

I had a feeling this would come up Trust me when I say that Bones is my online identity and in no way reflects my real life personality, just ask my kids when I let them out of the closet (j/k) I suppose I better edit it anyways. Thanks for pointing it out!

1) Some sort of modelling/texturing tool
Truespace, Milkshape, 3DS Max, etc.
2)A program that can view VP files
VPView
3)A .tbl editor
Notepad
4)Free time
Use VPView to open up the root fs2 .vp, extract "ships.tbl" from the tables into your "Freespace 2/Data/Tables" directory, and take a look at it with notepad. If you need more help, just post here

Hmm, that'd be nice to have. At the moment, if I want to edit thrusters or something I have to switch between POFCS and ModelView.

For working with the source code you'd probably want Visual C++ 6.0 since that's what it's made with.
