Hypothetical situation. It is 20 years after Sleeping in Light. You are in charge of the ISA's new fighter developement program. Due to some "creative" book-keeping cost is no object. Bear in mind this is a fighter, so it can't be any larger than a Nial.

So what are you gonna put on this badass bird?

Restrictions:
1) No VCD main guns, or any cap ship weapons, let's be (semi) realistic.
2) Multiple races must be able to use this ship.
3) No living CPU's.
4) Like I said, no bigger than a Nial, to assure size consistancy use the in-game Nial as a refference.
5) Yes, you can give it jump-engines.

I'd give it a tracking turret. ISA's probably got some pretty sophisticated firepower, so make the weapons track. Basically, turn it into the Excalibur from WCIII: The "It's not even fun to fly this, it's so damn powerful" fighter

Realistically, I'd give it some neutron guns (or whatever) and maybe a heavy pulse to hammer capital ships. Swarm a capship and you can take it out. So basically, Nial+1 ... we'l call it the Lain.

I'd say Neutron or Fusion style weaponry down the centerline of the craft with Fusion or Anti-Matter pulse cannons on the sides. Sort of like a miniaturized WhiteStar. Not the same kind of power, but the maximum weapon efficiency remains.

Maybe some of those White Star gravitic shields. These are not "Star Trek" shields but just ones that bend the light and matter around the ship a little (like making the ship having a little anti-gravity).

Organic hull is obligatory of course.

Jump Engines.

Some sort of direct pilot-machine interface (not CPU but just there to increase reaction times).

The best neutron beam and pulse weapon technology for different targets.

Blue Star style gravitic propulsion.

Missiles for long range engagement.

Decent air recycling equipment so the fighter's duration is effectively as long as the pilot can do without food.

These are just a few ideas

The ultimate WC "stupid fighter" was the WCIV Dragon.

Well, I don't know what the super-fighter would look like, but I have some ideas for features:
Pilot will have a fully reclining seat, with built in cup-holders.
There will be a small refrigirator within easy reach.
Kickass stereo a must.
Really big guns, with tiger/shark/dragon mouth painted to look realy intimidating. ("This is called the Fecalator, when your opponent sees it, he ****s his pants."
Fins, big fins, with chrome finish.

Yeah...the Dragon was pretty ultimate. Although forward guns sucked way too much juice from the power supply to really sustain a nice bombardment like the Excalibur could. I was also the only person who thought the Bearcat was an awesome fighter. Man, I loved that thing.

Nial sized BlueStar. That's pretty much it.
Weaponry is same as WhiteStar's, not nearly as powerful though.

The Dragon is from the WIng Commander series of games. I call it the "stupid fighter" because that's what you have to be to get killed while flying it. It was mentioned only in such a context.
