for flying capships u should prolly look into mods for homeworld or starfleet command (or some other game like that).
But flying a capship doesnt really appeal to me, far too slow

Actualy, Homeworld and SFC you dont "fly" the ships, you command them to fly to a point and perform a action, I have SFC2 and I am a Homeworld and HomeWorld: Cataclysm modder, Im in the B5: MoFaS team and teh co-founder and project lead of B5: Dark vengence cataclysm mod. The best game to get in this case is Star Trek Klingon Academy, you fly the starships in the same way you fly the fighters in FS2. Infact, a KA modder is working on his VCD as we speak, as well as virtualy every other cannon B5 ship, he has released several ships, my personal favorite wich many of you most likely share the same love for as I have, is Minbari_Captains Omega destroyer. go to klingonacademy.com for KA info&mods, and if your already have KA go to geocities.com/minbari_captain for M_C's excellent B5 ships, several other modders have released B5 ships such as the Vorlon transport, fighter and dreadnaught and there are several versions of the Aurora, Badger and T-Bolt for KA
And granted many cap ships are slow, but few ships can aproach a nova or Omega and live the first pass, and the WhiteStar, and the non-cannon ShadowStar, shadow enhanced version wich comes with shadow enhanced Nial's, can outrun and outmanuver any fighter Ive ever seen

Heh, flying capships is easy, you just need an eyepoint to the model, and the "player_ship" entries in the table. And you also need to make it's flag "bomber" so that the turrets work.
Of course, it's pretty damn weird, because you don't actually have to do anything, but I think I could take down a Sharlin in a Hyperion

If you have I-war you may download buda5 project from mods.firstones.com There you can play with cap ships, but own mission making is very hard and takes a lot of time. Well atleast you can fly with white star in infinite war and thats fun.

ALSO add "cruiser" or "destroyer" flags so the enemy ships shoot at U whith thier beams, else it be no fair if they dont shoot back hense how U could beat a sharlin.

What's the hard part about that again?
BTW - flying capital ships in the FS2 engine is highly impractical. It's not built for that kind of thing.

I don't really know what the limits of the engine are, but I agree with Ice. We're here to fly FIGHTERS. That's what it's made for. To me the very notion of flying a Hyperion or Nova with my joystick is just plain absurd.

Yeah, it's fun, but it depends on what kind of capship you're flying. FOr example a hyperion would probablu be boring, but a Whitestar or a Sunhawk migh be a bit better.
