Thunderbolt Shield Icon....
Hey folks,
I wonder if somebody could help me out with this. I added the thunderbolt from the "unofficial model pack" and wanted to have the tbolt animation and shield icon. I got the ship selection animation to work just fine, but the shield icon refused to display. I've made the ani file exactly like the other *hud01.ani files. 256 color 8bit pallet, 112x93 pixels, five frames, first one with the tbolt, the rest pure black. I've named it both tbolthud01.ani and thunderbolthud01.ani and referenced it in the ships.tbl. It just wont show up. Any clues? I'm pulling my hair out. I made the pic a top down greyscaled pic of the tbolt and then saved it over the aurorahud01.ani's first frame and made the series with ac.exe , I'd appreciate any help anyone could give.

Right after I posted this, I went back to take one last look before giving up for the night....figured it had to be something simple. It was! I forgot to add the name of the icon to the hud.tbl!!! DOH! Works fine now.

I tried editing the t.bolt but it said there was an error, what do I do? I pasted the insignia I wanted and saved it as page11 but does it need to be any specififc colour? I used 24 bit is it supposed to be 256 colours?

You have to use 256 Colors.
Very nifty with the insignia there!

Email....
Sure, I can mail it to you. It was really simple to do though. You need to get the ac.exe program. You can get it at freespace2.com I think. It allows you to make ani files out of a series of pcx files. Very self explanatory when you read the txt file it comes with. I just took the top down view of the Tbolt from B5Tech, the same one that was used for the load screen. I used aniviewer, that comes with the Freespace utilities to look at the existing icons and made mine to look like those. For ship selection screen it was very similar, except it's only one pcx file. I just made the high res 1024 version first, then shrunk it for the low res version. I've only done the tbolt so far. Figured I'd do the rest as time permits. Post your email and I'll send em.

Email away...
Pera I just sent the file to you. It has the shield icon, and two interface ani files for the ship selection I made. Anyone else want it, just post email's here. I don't see the choice to mail someone from their post. I'll send them as time permits. I work during the evenings (Eastern U.S. time). So I can only check in the mornings.

Sorry took so long to reply, our ISP has been down all week. I'll be happy to send them. I've also done files for the rest of the fighters in your pack.
