General questions about installation

All downloads are zipped Files, right? I have to extract them to my Freespace2/Data directory, right?

Q1: Is there a readme file?

Q2: Does the mod overwrite something?

Q3: Is the mod playable in mp mode?

Q4: What will happen to FS2?

Hope it's not too stupid of me to ask these questions, but I thought it would fit in now as the demo / release 1 is out and I've got no idea what is fact...

They're .exe's Just download them, then run the core exe. After that, follow the directions. There should be a readme.

Ok so i have Guillemot Riva TNT 2 m64.And you said that the core file should fix the problem when using the 512x512 textures.
1.Exactly how will i do that ( to make the textures work)
2.Do i need a full installation of Freespace 2.Or is the second biggest installation enough the 900 meg installation.

Thats all really eager to test it

Doesn't fix anything....just an enhancement.

CptWhite took his original textures he did with the resolution of 512x512...which is considerably higher than the standard 256x256.

Just install the HighRes.EXE and it will edit the FS2 registry and install the higher textures so that you can use them.

A card like the TNT2 or a GeForce can handel these textures

Ok i downloaded the High-res.exe about 30mins ago and im now downloading the other parts.

But the thread where Londo Molari asked about the 512x512 textures the word was that TNT 2 couldn't handle these textures.

And about the FS 2 install. Is the 900 meg install enough.Or does it have to be the full install? Is any fs 2 patch required?

The TNT2 can handle 512x512; that was a misunderstanding.
