Opinions: Soundtrack samples

What are your opinions on the music tracks downloaded from the Twilight homepage composed by Inon Zur and Bjorn Lynn?

Do you feel that some of the compilations are weak? Overbearing?

The compositions are missing something....I think the best word to describe it is depth. Some of the instrumentation is a bit wrong (by my ear anyways) but overall its okay. It sounds more like something for a Fantasy game rather than space. Unfortunately I can't suggest a better source for music (that isn't already very spacy and used in that context).

I think that it is pretty good music. i can understand why some might say that it might not fit in with the freespace environment, but then this is supposed to bu unique music. are you going to need any beta testers anytime soon?

Temporal Mechanics seems like an interesting project, however time travel is something I definately like to avoid in plotlines due to the convulution and the ability to repeat the process once again to further convulte the plot...

The music in TM has a decidedly techno-feel to it, it's interesting.

Time travel is too confusing..

If you send someone back in time to destroy somethin, and it succeeds, then there would have been no need to send them back in time, and they never would have, and then the thing would still be around, only for the future to destroy it, and oh no, I've gone cross-eyed...

Time travel isn't all that confusing. Think of it as a ribbon and that what you do at one end of the ribbon will affect the other end of the ribbon.

Yeah, but think about the terminator 2 movie:

The thing was sent back in time to destroy a woman because if she lives, the future sux.

Now, you kill the woman, and the future doesn't suck anymore.

They had no need to send the droid back in time, and so it never happens.

Now the woman lives, and the future sux again, only to continue in this fashion for eterinty...

This is annoying.

yes, but you forgot that there are two schools of thought in temporal mechanics.

1 there is one timeline. anything that happens effects that timline. period, end of sentence.

2 every action has a reaction and the timeling branches out from every choice made in the timeline. if you go back and change something, all that happens is that you go down a different path than the one you were on before.

I believe in number 1.

Well in T1 the Terminator failed and actually indirectly created the hero that would lead humanity against the rebels. That same person in the future sends the terminator back to save in essence himself. When he does that and then proceeds to change the future, its changed forever. Theres alot of irony in the time travel part but it was a great setup.

ah yes, but the problem with this and any other arguement involving temporal mechanics (other than the fact that i always run out of asprin when i think about this) is that that argument can be countered by "how do you know. he could have just change the future only a little bit." the other problem is that by send back those two, a temporal loop was created. thankfully it was a small one that wouldn't involve a paradox.

as you can see, i am fully infavor of time travell going in one direction, and one direction only.....

TO THE FUTURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well...since time travel is pretty much impossible anyways (or so they say) its relegated to fiction and therefore our imaginations.

Due to the fact that time is actually a figment of our imagination, a measurement of relative motion of objects (we remember a past, but there is none, there is simply what the object is doing) the only way to achieve time travel is to recreate the universe down to the most elementary level to where the locations of the molecules and atoms were at that moment.

Thus more energy than in the entire universe is required for time-travel and knowledge of everything's location at that moment is also required. (if you have that info, you don't need to bother with "going back" for research purposes )

But then the path originally taken never happened. Thus you never went back. Thus no TM. It's more complicated than this tho.

who says that the origional path never happened. in one school of that, all branches take place. its just the choices that you make that determines your path through the maze. it's the other school of thought where there is only one branch occuring at a time.

ive planned it okay...

the campaign has your usual rebel Terran faction and Shivan incursion, but theres a much deeper darker plot going on under the surface...

Icefire knows some of it...

btw, theres a third music track...
