Well, the mailing list is fine , but it cannot replace the internal forum.
1. You can send mails to keep others informed about the overall progress , but this gives you only updates on recent projects. And a week after a mail most of the people have forgotten about it.
2. Single mails are fine , but they don't give you a complete overview . Or do you know what Cyclops is texturing at the moment ? Do you know what is Rictors current project ?
3. For there are people waiting for assignments given by ET1 and IceFire at least they have to have the overview and the internal forum helps them on that. This allows us all to allocate tasks to team members efficiently. Well, this does not mean that you have to accept whatever you are assigned to , if there are things you don't want to do , then let it be. But we have the OVERVIEW.
4. Some people work on their own , they never tell others what the situation with their work is and they don't accept orders. Well , if we stick to this laissez-faire policy I tell you we will still be working on the mod in 10 years. If we want to have things done we HAVE to organize ourselves to a certain degree.
5. I am sure there are people in the team who aren't doing anything right now. Not because they are lazy , but they have no idea what has to be done and what they could do. The mailing list is also insufficient here.
6. In the last days new members joined our team. You can't expect them to read ALL the mails since last year. How do you want to inform them about the overall situation ?
No Kazan , I am pretty sure the mailing list on its own is NOT sufficient for our internal organization. If we had done this from the first day on we would already be finished. ( Since '99 )
