Support ships?
In those Hyperion pics, there was that support ship dock in counterthingyblihblah... What a heck is it doing there?
Dont tell me player can rearm his ship during combat!!!

use the same bloody thread ! how annoying.
no you will no be able to dock in the official missions...thats the opinion at present.
the pictures are alpha tests! we do things piece by piece just cos we post a picture doesnt mean thats what it will be like when its finished! use yer head!

Hope there aren't any support ships!!! i never use them unless i flying a bomber and thank god there are no shields again never use them i always take the energy from the sheilds and use it on the weapons and engines(makes the game more fun).

Saying how rare missials are in B5 Ditch the support, it's main propuse is so the player can rearm (FS2 relies MUCH More hevily on them)

We'll probably ditch the support ship option in most missions (thats decided by a tag in the mission, not a table decision).
Because Support Ships are hardcoded into the game however, I've suggested that we at least modify a crew shuttle with a docking port for fighters in addition to docking ports for all fighters that are flyable. In the eventuality that someone creates a mission and doesn't check the no support feature, the game would crash if the ship docked. This way at least it looks cannon and people have the option if need be.

Yeah... Then the shuttle would be able to carry fighters... Like in that episode where Ivanova wastes few Black Omega fighters. There was shuttle carrying those Black Omegas, yes?
And it would be very useful for mission designers

Actually, with proper placing of dock points, replacing text, sound etc. You could literally make a Hyperion a support ship.
Now what would be odd is it's "flying to you" this should be able to be fixed by editing mission text to make the AI orders 100 percent or so until Alpha 1 is in a certain range of the dockpoint (say 1 meter).
It can be done, and when you fly in to the bay, the ship adjusts itself that one meter for the "support dock" script to engage, and act like you're rearming. (sound effects and such can make it seem like automatic arms are reloading you)
It would be something worth investigating for fun at the very least.

Granted that its a good idea Ace, but the fact is that the average person who downloads this MOD will not be able to setup a mission like that. So the fact is that we need to make sure that there are assets in place to ensure that the game can't be crashed from such a problem that can be so easily avoided.

They worrie is that you call for suport (when flying for ISA, and in a mission that dosen't restrict range to move for rearm) and a Victory jumps in to rearm you!
but the rearm in bay idea is sweet!!!
but how will it be set in the tbl? if i remember correctly, FS crashes when a suport ship is requested and that species has more than one with the repair-rearm flag in the tbl. Adding the 2 suport from fs1 raised this point: with out flag it dosen't rearm, with; shift-r crashes FS; don't know about a way around this
