Definitely the grid radar. And yeah, screenshots are seriously impressive. The ships are so much more imaginative than the Freespace 2 originals. Not that I'm complaining, Freespace 2 STILL rocks.

Can't wait for demo!

I dont know if its a setting or not, I think it should be a little more transparent. it almost seems like it would get in the way. Just my opinion

well , you can have the radar as transparent as you want , you can set this up via the cockpit setup-screen . if you reduce intensity of R, G, B values it will be more transparent . You will be able to set this without problems seether

I'd prefer round radar, grid one does not look as practical IMHO.

Actually, I remember a scene from a Star Fury pilot's view, and the radar was trapezoidal in shape, not square/rectangular. Plus it showed a wireframe view of the target and it's orientation (like the target view in bottom left).

Personally, I think the stock FS2 hud (with a little alteration) would pass nicely. Who knows, maybe some of the pilot helmets have a built-in HUD that looks like the FS2 version...

Okay, a trapezoidal radar, the central HUD might be more angular, do a little tweaking on the escort list and wingman stats & weapons sections, that'd about do it.

There isn't a way to alter the location of the HUD elements, is there? Once I tried to replace the FS1 hud with the one from the FS2 demo, and the side arcs tops were at the bottom of the original arc's position. I'll have to try that again and post a screenshot. Didn't look pretty at all...

[EDIT: I really need to learn how to spell...]

I like the grid, looks much more accurate to the show.

The round reminds me of Wing Commander...

Great job on both!

I like the square one more but the round is more practical, it's difficult to explain but if u imagine that u r looking at an object thats infront at u but at a distance it would be like in the center of the radar, if the object comes closer you will see it's not exactly in front of u and it'll be slightly to the left or bottom etc, and it will appear to move out of the centre towards the outside. when the object is going past u it will eventualy move to the edge of your sight which is the equivelent of being on the edge of the radar map. if u rotate it will appear to spin round the edge of the radar map. but if the map is a square it will not move round and the radar will have several blank spots or areas on the map that are not used.

I know this will probaby not make sense but briefly on a square radar i think parts of the radar will not be used or there will be blind spots

Rectangle is the One

so lets design a cockpit tha CAN replace the FS2 and post it here))))))))))))))) what I mean change the form of the power grods, thrust bars, lockk senseors etc............

the contest is openend....

SKULLAr-> I told you the rectangle is nice
