Sorry for the problem with the last version of this thread... now, I'll try again with out the problem...

Can anyone give me some tips for Adobe Photoshop for creating pics? I've got some basic stuff, but anyone have anything cool that they know about?

Yes. Render effects = your friend. Distortion effects = your friend.
Resizing and resampling are two very different things, use both when appropriate.

Oh yeah, layers = really your friend.

And learn lighting effects, I've done some VERY kick-ass stuff with lighting. Major fun to play with that.

oh very well

Starfields made easy
1. Fill screen with black
2. Choose 'Add noise' filter.
3. Set noise to Monochromatic Gaussian, and the amount to 14.
4. Activate the levels window Image/Adjust/Levels...)
5. For the final step you simply need to re-arrange the 3 triangles on the upper bar. I'd recommend you experiment and see what you can get but generally I find this adjustment works best;

one questions.... how can you get those cool flak/laser/beam effects in pictures? is it something to do with Truespace or 3DS Max?

Well.. there's a variety of methods.. for lasers, you could do something as simple as make a colored line with roundness to it, then just do some hella motion blurs and make it not completely opaque to the background. It actually works pretty well.

Hmm - I couldn't get tht to work well... and another thing just occured to me... do you ever see many FS artwork pics with lasers anyway? theres a couple of beam ones, but nothing with other weapons in...
