Just Bought Red Faction for PC.

Saw it at my local EB for only $9.99 and decided to buy it. I had played the PS2 version at a friends house when the game first came out, and since I plan on buying Red Faction 2 for gamecube, I decided to re-play the first one as well.

While I find multiplayer to be fun, the servers are few, and the cheaters are many. I havn't experienced cheating on this scale since Counter-Strike...... What went wrong Volition? If only this game had recieved better dev support the modding community would have exploded! Shame to see Red Faction's community stagnate like this.

anyways, ya the community is small but i dont mind for 2 reasons

1) commerical success/community size is no indication of quality (aka the Sims Principle)

2)its not V's fault, its THQs so V did their best under bad circumstances and its still great.

AS per 2 I blame a little of each

THQ for not letting them work on a game that had a decent PC following, especially for a game that went unadvertised with no real power behind it other then apparently it sold well on PS2.

Hell someone gave me their disks and said that they were thinking of getting big in this game. Thats how I heard about it.

I blame 4 for what I assume was a lot of shortcuts in their programming and not really fixing anything with the latest patch whatever version it may be. Case in point there are at least 6 things "fixed" in the 1.1 patch that are now broken in 1.2 along with ALOT other bugs in 1.2. Its also odd how 3 programmers with little knowledge can make a cheat free(different from glitch free they aint superheroes) version of the game in 3 weeks. And probably 2 of those weeks were waiting for 1 person to do some converting.

Shellshock did you press the update button on the red faction launcher? If not that is the reason there are few servers. After you upgrade the game you will have 100-300 servers. Hope this helps.
