Red Faction Servers

Not sure if this is the right forum, so apologies to admin if ive got it wrong..
Are servers still available to play RF in multiplayer mode? whenever i try to get a list of the available servers i get the following message: "Couldn't reach THQ Multiplay.net. Server list may not be up to date".

In the setup menu, the master server is: RF.thqmultiplay.net
Is this still correct?

Any help much appreciated

Thanks Guys

click the "GET SERVERS" button at the bottom of the screen, and yes of course there are still rf servers running.

Cheers for all the replies guys, much appreciated

Quazar: Ive got a Broadband connection to the house, and then my computer is linked to the "master/host" computer via a LAN connection.. Everything else works fine, Internet, MSN Messenger, etc. But cant get RF to work online

The_Croc & Shim: Checked the sep-up screen and everything is fine there, tried different connections, but none have made a difference. Tried to connect for a few days now, but still it wont work, so im guessing its probably not the servers???

Thanks for your help guys

I'm not sure, but would a firewall prevent you from connecting?
I'd suggest checking to see if there're any firewalls on your system, and do you know what kind of broadband connection you have? (Cable, DSL, etc.)

you did forward the port from the router right?

A quick was to check is by setting RF via the strartup screen to whatever port you have http on(80 by default)

Icer - Broadband is on DSL and 512kb/sec connection, with no firewall...

The_Croc - Tried that, port number im using is (off top of head) 6588 and this works fine for http. Tried changing this in the setup screen but still makes no difference. Ill try it on setting 80 like you suggest. We run a proxy server on the main computer to link the others to the net, could this be causing the problem?

Thanks for you help

Im guessing the proxy would be causing the problems. It probably isnt allowing RF to get out to the net.

Can you be a little more specific on how your connections are set up? (Like if you are using a router, or connection sharing or something...)

And which computer is the proxy set up on?

could setup ICS instead of using a proxy everything will work then if memory serves correctly u query the master server on port 7756 to port 18444

the internal port doesnt matter but u would need to allow the outbound traffic for 18444 just a thought but dun know enuf about ur setup, use ICS and get a firewall easy
