HL mod = buried under Counterstrike. Moving on.
Renegade mod = starting over and I don't know how mod-friendly the engine is.

So from a fan's point of view...sticking with the RF engine = win.

Half-Life is a definite no-no for me. Surem HL is a great game, but it is much too old.

renegade modding ability:

it's 100% compatible with Gmax ( so it means any modder can make models with a great, free modeler, that means new weapons, textures, vehicles, characters, and, of course, levels), it has full scripting capacity ( even ingame cutscenes), no need to talk about the possibility to mod sounds and all that stuff. Honestly, tho, i'm kindda astonished... I come from the westood community, and back during the TS time, WW support for mods, was... well, they were kindda against, actually. For renegade, they've talked about the modding possibilities before the game was even out, it seems they've changed their mind in the good way, for once

Renegade isnt that good IMO. RF suffered from a lack of story, which can be solved with this mod, but renegade has rough graphics to say the least. Most of all it doesnt have geomod.
