Question Suggestions on throttle appreciated

I'm using a MS Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 which has a throttle and eight buttons on it, but there are so many commands in FS2 that I don't think I'll be able to get by with the joystick buttons alone. However, if I have my left hand on the keyboard, I can't use the throttle control on the base of the joystick. Do you recommend abandoning the joystick throttle and keeping one hand on the keyboard to control speed? If so, have you remapped any of the keys or do you use the default config?

I just used the keyboard for throttle. I was either going all out, zero, or matching speeds anyway, manual throttle wasn't very useful.

I'd just do that, keep the left hand on the keyboard for those controls, bind the joystick keys you can reach for common tasks (fire primaries, secondaries, nearest enemy target, countermeasures, etc)

That makes sense. I'm assuming you kept the default config for the keyboard controls, then?

98% of them, yeah. I rebound a few for easier access but more or less, default all the way.
