For those of you who don't know, the [url=http://www.3dap.com/hlp/hosted/fsport/]Freespace Port[/url] is dedicated to porting over all the original ships, weapons, and missions from Freespace: The Great War into the enhanced Freespace 2 engine. All your old favorites are here, along with some new new additions like squad logos, a shielded Lucifer, high-res textures, and more.

So, you may ask, why should you bother downloading a 'patch' that's bigger than the original Port? Here's why:

A cleaner, ultra-efficient ships.tbl now accepts all tech room descriptions.
New animated FS2-style ship selection interface art! Wow!
Selected engine sound effects from FS1 integrated.
A remodeled PVI Karnak with better LODs and cleaner geometry.
The ever-present bug fixes and enhancements to the original campaign.

I did all the new interface art by myself and I think it's the best SS ani clone I've seen so far.

Remember, you need the original Port 2.1 VP to use this. Everything here is free for your use.

Yo, you did a good job with it, but the FS1 missions are still not the same.

For example, on FS1 Act 1, Mission 2, the Vasudan Ace is in the mission on all difficulties unless in the first mission the Vetern Lt Harbinson or something like that is killed, then the Ace doesn't show up.

Alot of things have been changed, but some of them were changed since FS2 doesn't have the same things, such as Medals.

Other then all the mission changes, its pretty good....its a pity you can't get all the movies to work from the Hard Drive.

Who says you can't? I thought that it was just a matter of having them in the campaign file and in the data\movies folder

Apparently Goober changed the names of the files without updating the download links.

I e-mailed them for FTP access for CannonFodder and he had access with about 4-5 days.

We'll see how it goes with Lady Rose but it shouldn't be too hard to get him access either I hope.
