Oh. You never played Homeworld? Then you missed something. But to be fair i have to say HW Cataclysm is a piece of crap. But HW1 thats a very good game. Although it's from 1999 i play it very often. There are some very good mods for it. So don't play with HW-Ships, play with Babylon 5-Ships. You have to try it. It's worth the 5 - 10 Dollars.

no formations(like in HW1), no fuel, graphic less "perfect" than Heag.

thats what i dont like about hw2. but i think it will still be a nice game. (too bad i'll have to wait longer for the german release i guess )

There are formations, but formations are selected automatically based on current "Strike" and "Tactics". Less strike craft micromanagement.

And strike crafts not having fuel is an improvement in my opinion, it was already this way in Cataclysm.

well, lets see how it ends up. in the full version.

I don't like the way how fighters are handled in HW2. You don't build fighters, you build a complete squad. If one fighter got shot down, you no longer build a new one - you repair the squad (send them to dock with carrier/mothership) after that theres a new fighter in the quad, wich costed nothing.
And while you replace one fighter, the other 4 can't do anything else like say fighting the enemy.
And doesn't look so good like Haegemonie, but has higher system requirements.
Also in the demo you just have to build a massive fregatte fleet and overrun the enemy. In HW you would never hade a chance whith just ion- and assaultfregattes (even when you play a carrier only match).

I've got HW2 on preorder,i like the new homeworld engine as it can handle high poly models easily.

Don't missunderstand my post. HW2 is still great, but not as good, as the first part was.

And the damage on the ships look quite good.

norbert, don't worry no damage done
