1.00-1.20 Patch

Having just discovered Freespace2 on an old magazine cover cd, i've really enjoyed the single player campaign and now want to try it online. I've tried to patch the game using the auto updater and downloading the patch from somewhere else. I'm using the HotU version with the animations, speech and music but every time I try to patch it I get an error message saying 'Original FS2.exe contents do not match, Update aborted. Re-installing may be necessary'.
Does anyone have a fix for this?
