-- Iceni Weapon Mounts?? (http://volitionwatch.papageorgefamily/vwbb/showthread.php?threadid=9374)

Thumbs down Iceni Weapon Mounts??

What's the deal with the NTF Iceni. Its weapons don't make any sense at all. It's got missile launchers on one side, particle and flak on the other. Small guns, big guns and missiles out of the same style of turrets, 3 beams with two to one side and only one on the other. It doesn't make any sense at all. Was it intended to be like that? Or did Volition just fill in the blanks with whatever the hell as they figured the thing would never actually get into direct combat with anything.

The Iceni was probably built in a hurry... what did you expect from a ship that comes out of an asteroid?!?!

or maybe they knew that the Colossus was going to be on one side, and you on the other!!!

It was probably designed that way. The Iceni would always be escorted (or one would think), which means that its weapon systems could use versatility in warding off attackers. Energy weapons on the side facing the main battle, with the backside used for anti-spacecraft defense. That way, all the weapons can be used at the same time, instead of having energy weapons facing away from the action doing nothing at all.
