Release 2 woes

i had to redo the first mission like 3 times because i destroyed everything too fast, wtf is with that? anyways i finished the mission and hit continue only to find that it says i failed the mission, yet the debriefing is that of a accomplished mission. is it one mission alone?!

Wait for the patch and it will be fixed

You didn't read the R2 Information thread which is stickied, did you? *sigh* I don't know why I even bothered.

For every 9 people who read your FAQ there'll be 1 that doesn't.

More like vice versa if you ask me.

The mindset is that nobody will read a FAQ because it obviously doesn't cover their issue ever...when infact it does because everyone else ran into it as well.

|Shadower|, as the FAQ should mention and the readme that comes with R2 DOES mention is that single missions are also available from the tech room simulator (check the single missions tab at the bottom).

TBP R2 bugs

Bug N1 (minor).
Every time the Sharlin-class warship is in attack mode (i.e. attacking another ship with her anti-capital beam cannons) I am experiencing severe frame-rate hit (regardless, am I looking at the cruiser or not). The more Sharlins attacking, the more frames loss. When their attack is finished, game plays smoothly again.

Bug N2 (major).
Missions taking place in hyperspace (FS2 nebula) makes Freespace2 to crash in a few seconds after beginning. There is a glitch with some effect (lightings maybe) which is displayed as transparent white sprite squares, there was nothing similar in unmodified FS2.

These bugs are campaign- and mission-independent, and, I think, belongs to the TBP mod itself.

lol your useing a Voodoo3 only 16MB card? nowonder you got probs.

FS2 dose not run good on those cards, no offence but they suck. One should always keep uptodate with the best cards they can get. I recomend you get a radeion, or Gforce card they are cheaper and less *looks for right word* nitpicky.

On a side note what kind of CPU do you have? and what rez do you run at?

Eddit: Voodoos a lost cause and are out of bis too, Nvida bought em, so theres no more support for them in the newer game wich sucks.

My specs are here:

GForce 4 TI4600 64 MB, Athlon 300 CPU, and to top off my killa PC a good batch of 2 Gig DDR Mem, and 2 HD one 4 Gig and the other 2.

Are you running in Glide or D3D mode for the graphics. If you are running in D3D...switch to Glide unless you absolutely must be using D3D. Reason being that Glide was written for 3DFX cards only and you should get better performance out of FS2 using that mode.

Why you are experiencing framerate loss is beyond me. You should experience the same problem with Omegas, G'Quans, and others similar to the Sharlin in terms of size and weaponry effects.

Similarly classed cards (like the TNT and TNT2) have no problems (I developed some of these effects while using a computer with a TNT video card) so the problem lies somewhere else. Perhaps the Voodoo's limited texture resolution and memory handeling problems are causing the problems...

Never feel stupid.... Just learn from mistakes. Learn that reading and searching for information yourself before you ask a question helps both you and the people you are asking because you can ask a more informed question later. Researching a problem is never wasted time...even if there are no immediate results.

We, on this forum, aren't mean spirited...we are quite forgiving and sometimes even quite generous to others on the board. But...having seen the same questions over and over can try the paitence of everyone. Help us and help yourself...listen, read, learn, then ask. The answers are usually out there...if they arent, its probably a good idea someone asked the question then.

Athlon 300 ??? If memory serves, the slowest Athlon ever clocked in at around 450 MHz. so you must be refering to something else. Either you meant an XP 3000 or a K6-x type CPU... but I doubt you can mount 2GB of DDR RAM on such a board.

Later!

Yeah Athlon 300 CPU, you do know they still make new CPUs right? Well it looks like this dude needs a new GFX card stat, the Voodoo cards now just can't handle the more damanding and newer games. I also hate it when people buy a game the bitch about how it don't work with their outdated Voodoo 2/3s! get something better!

Eddit: This is not meant to be insulting just a statement of facts.

Ummm...there is no Athlon 300 CPU. The slowest of the Athlon's was 500 mhz and they were comperable with the Pentium III's. A 300mhz AMD processor would be the K6 (1, 2, or 3).

Perhaps you mean you have a Athlon XP 3000+.

If you need a graphics card and have only little money, you should open your eyes for nVidia Geforce MX cards.
I have played FS2 without problems on a GF2 MX 400 (with AMD K6-2 350), although I havn't tried how it worked on 1024*768*32.
Those cards should be (if you still find one anywhere) quite cheap. But for their low price they have good abilities (hope thats a fitting word).

I'd rather look for Radeon 9000 - 9600 series.
