Orion debris

just a quick request 4 the next release

when u destroy the Orion station, the debris pieces have the original Orion texture, which features external lights on

when the station gets destroyed, the lights would go off
plz change the debris texture so that it has lights off. thx

heh, great pilot chatter in that situation...
"Ok... Who left the lights on!?!?"

Imagine it as internal fires. If not then just imagine it as a "feature"

The lights are left on so pilots don't run into the debris

Yeah, each standard EA light unit has it's own internal power source, so they'll keep working even after the demise of the construct they're stuck to.

Posted by FlakBait on 06-14-2003 04:16 PM:

There is only one way to turn off all the independently powered lights at the same time. In each EA installation is a central master, decommisioning shut-off switch. This swithc is genetically encoded so that only one EA tech has the ability to shut down an installation. His only job is to go around decommisioning things. He doesn't have to work very often, but he has a good union and is very well payed.

He can bee seen in Sleeping In Light.

whay not just have the debris have no lights on them at all? I would love to see a Shivan ship's lights flicker as it dies

Because its the same texture. Do you want another 512x512 texture floating around in memory just to "turn off the lights". No thank you.

I will definitely put this on my to-do list, and give it the priority that it deserves.

On the other hand... glowmaps remain "on" too, I guess? Taking them off from debris shouldn't be too much trouble.

yea! *happy*
