Becoming extinct

We need to do something! Everyday i notice how us FS2 people ar slowly dying off. Its too bad i didnt realy get into the game until just recently. There must be someway we can spread the word. It would be hard tho getting people to start playing this game when its copies are being sold on ebay for 60+$ .

I would also like to ask (although it is unlikely) are FS2 cd's still being produced? If not i can set up a little shop which people can buy 3 blank cd's for 5$ and ill burn FS2 for them. (since its technicaly legal) and ship it to them.

Also i heard of some dispute inside of interplay about something about them being broke and volition trying to buy the rights to FS so it can make #3. Also i must say that volitions comercial strategys are pretty bad. They need to know how to create hype put comercials in magazines ETC. i would even be willing to help by putting ads in my local newspaper. Thats free advertising.

Just one demo of a colosses blowing the crap out of a sathanas or another ship on Fox and they would of sold at least twice as many copies.

Although the FS2 CD's were never worth that much, its not unreasonable to taise prices to expensive costs due to its scarcity.

I HIGHLY suggest that you not do that. Yes you say its illegal even yourself, but seeing you're from Springfield VA (which I assume is in N VA), I wouldnt hesitate one bit to call up a friend who lives nearby to check you out.

There's not gonna be a FS3. Period. We may be pessimistic, but lets face it: why would they make a FS3 when they can make a D4 and make loads more money. They dont care about player and customer satisfaction; its business, and business comes down to $$$.

And i also read that it was legal to make copys of it as long as you dont sell them which i wouldnt be.

Just the Cd's unburnt. The burning is 100% free.

Sadly to say Freespace is pretty much gone this is the first time ive come on in 4 months and ever since there was that giant poll to see which was more popular D4 or FS D4 won i think and everyone has just... dissapeared I seldomly visit this place and almost everything has been discussed about fs2 TO EVERY DAMN BLOODY DETAIL and theres just no more to discuss, FS will go down as one of the greatest games in history for those that play it but, Volition just didn't have the money to be making a FS3 let alone buy the rights. I give FS about the end of the year before this place is gone I hate to see it go but its just not what it use to be, the people that started all this and were so interested are growing up and newer and beter games are constantly being made, so yea i rest my case but I will always be a true fan

Bah. Unless we get another combat space sim of the same, or better, quality, FS2 won't die. (Argue for Freelancer if you must, but it has its flaws.)

Just one thing, a Publisher(Interplay) does the advertisting and not the Developer (Volition)..so rage should be directed to Interplay. Its been like that for a long time...and if this leads to something else there are rights you can check up on the internet about publishers and developers.

On another thing altogether its good to know that some people are willing to do things for the community to keep alive.

Yeah,, hmm also Freespace2 is NOT and I repeat not going too die anytime soon, and if it does its over my DEAD BODY(I mean this as well). I think the next few months of work will reveal so many new propects for the game...EG new sites, SCP Overviews, and much more like campaigns and new storylines..

What can I say this will probably be a new thing altogether since someone in our community has disappeared in silence for awhile (not mentioning his name due to certain circumstances.)

As for FS being dead within a year I've been hearing similar comments in the Amiga community for the past 8 years.

FS2 will survive until something better comes along. At the moment that looks highly unlikely. The only thing better than FS2 is FS2_open

Everything I've ever bid on has been raised to an annoyingly higher amount within the last 20 seconds by last second bidders. They screwed me over on getting the game (FS2) many times, and when I did win one, it was at a ridiculously high price!

That said, I still have hope that one day we will see an 'official' continuation of the Freespace universe. Until then tho, there's some really good looking mods.

Oh, and where did you read this about the FS rights? As they say, seeing is believing.

Most likely because the webmaster/news poster doesn't really have anything to post - of course theres fan-based stuff but not what they would call official I suppose, but if someone had something big to post and they sent it to ::V:: they could probably get it up there. ::V:: has probably got to see it though.

I loved doing FreeSpace and FreeSpace2 and the addons on my Celeron 500 "way back then". If I get the time, I would like to do them again on my newer faster computers and graphics cards on my home lan.

I just don't like the run around and shoot games there are these days.
