-Discovered: Not really a cheat, but sort of... -- Warp Drive--

Every wonder what the wonders of warp technology could bring to the babylon 5 universe?
well wonder no more my simple minded fivers!
Below i have listed a step by step guide as to how to make your starfury, start surfing the cosmos in style!

For a real Bang Up Job Warp trip do as follows:
1) Fly into a docking bay, preferably Orion-class station's but an imobile ship's will do just as well...

2) position your starfury so that it is faceing the broad-side of one of the inner walls of the bay, IOW, put your back to one wall, and stare right at the other...

3) Make sure your engines are at dead stop, do not touch them after this... Hit the after burner full speed. Ram that wall with all your might, and let go of all controls...

4) The object of the above is to get your starfury banging like a ping pong ball back and forth inside the docking bay.... under it's own inertia... if you succeded this far, your part is done, just sit back and prep for warp.

The result of the ping pong effect, will have your fury slaming back and forth fatser and faster each time... Eventually it will be moving extremly, unheard-of-ly fast. Soon after this happens you will seem to dissapear from the docking bay, and be somewhere floating in space, your speed clocked at well over 8000. At the center of your target area, a star-stretched sphere will flash, and the stars/dust around your fury will notably be moving fatser.

If you can, turn your fury around as soon as this effect takes place, you will see whatever you just ping-pong-warped outta moving away at incredable speeds (though it is really you moving away) This will last for a few seconds (5-20) then you will quickly slow to a stop.

I have done this several times, you get speratic distances away for your Point of Origin each time. I have gotten as far as 55000 meters away from my PO. But as close as 22400.

A neat little bang-up trick i discovered. good for a laugh. best with invulnerability 'on'.... sssssss... You'll need a new paint job, not to mention some body work after this one....

Enjoy, and by all means post your distances and experiences!

I think your ship will blow up when you get to 60KM. SO watch out.

yeah it's confirmed, better have invulnerability 'on'
I reached a new record just now, 15500 for speed.

Also, confirmed, it will only work with the orio's docking bay as it is large enough...

It may also work between other objects as well.... idea for new missons....

how long does it take to complete the slingshot manuvoure? could be useful in a "scramble" mission, to get to the enemies fast

another cool thing.

If you use the regular FS2 engine you can use weapons to move around.

step 1. invulnerability

step 2. force you primary weaps to the minbari HNeutron

step 3a. get into the docking bay of the nearest Nova

Step 3b. get against the back at the bottom corner

step 4. point at the front-bottom of the docking bay and shoot the edge with the HNeutron.

You can flay around like this.

Note-To stay in the bay you may need to turn around and hit the burners as the Nova decelereate faster than you Fury.

edit:

he he he

make a fury enter directly between two flat objects with initial orders ram to ram the object ahead of it. put a waypoint right beside the first thing (to be rammed) and give an event to make fury play dead at it. give a time delayso it can build speed and order it to warp.......

/edit

are you sure that you initiate the warp? i tried ut it won't let me. I can sttill do the thing but i cant warp or see the starry ball.

top speeed for me: 15000

best distance for me: 50000 almost 60000

BTW it also works if you hold down th burners and fly straight into the oncomming inner side of the bay on the rotator.

edit: i have also had it happen where if you turn sideways in the bay you can actually fly most of the way back at 10000 or so.

I have discovered that the stary ball only apears if you face the station during the 'warping' but also initiate the manuever facing the two braodest sides...
However for whatever reason your speed is not shown and you move single dirrectional (doing it anyother way, after the 'warp' is initiated, you can move at the read speed in whatever dirrection you face)

And BTW, I use the term 'warp' figurativly, you don't actually 'jump' as i now see that the original fs2 name for it is war...
I Qued it warping because of the stary stretch and the imence speed pick-up

New record!!!!

Top Speed: 48000 (almost 49000)

Best distance: 132000

The my previously top speed must be wrong, because I don't see how I could travel 116000 meters at 29000m/s.... must have looked at the speed bar too late
