Animated Textures
Could someone there explain me , what these
"Animated Textures" basicallly mean. I know its some sort of
source code thingy, what does it do to the ships and their textures
When this technology comes available, I mean when TBP really starts using source code, or makes it own version of it.
Do you have ANY thought, years, months ?
It means that the textures will be animated, they'll be capable of changing from a texture to another (kind of like frames) creating a changing picture on the hull a vessel.
For example, the animated textures will be great for all ship that have organic armor and things like that.

Like those seen on a shadow bc, it looks like it shimmering or moving.
edit -vorlon ships have their patterns move constantly on their hulls that can form words.

But I don't think for the Vorlons the animated textures would be necesarry, because ther pattern (I hope its the right word) changes very slow (if the ship doesn't shows letters on its hull).
I think the same thing like the Omegas nameplates should be enought, so that their ships have different patterns.
I dont think the main hull needs animation it isn't that visible... And who's willing to try and read what a ship has to say to you in the heat of battle?
But the damn opening flower looking thing, solar sail, whatever should have animated textures.

Oh ****! Those idiots did it.
Don't forget the engine sections of some of the Drazi vessels.

I didn't mean that the thing with the letters on the hull should be implemented.
I just meant that the complete skin of the vorlon-ships should use the same technice, which allows the Omegas to have different names on the same model.
So that there is only one model needed for the green and the red version for example, just with different skins.
No names will be on the vorlon ship, I said that because their ships can do it

For all the rest of you.... don't come here.
It would be cool to have that affect on the skin of the vorlon ships... imagine the endless possibilities of its aplications...
For example: A campaign design in a way the turn of events is some how linked with what the pilot saw in a battle (words on a vorlon ship).
Too bad it's not possible
(at least in the near future)
