How about the Dilgar?

http://www.b5mods.com/site/downloads_gw5.htm

for a breather in that.

It was a mod that was started some time ago on its own (Shadegrown had made some fantastic models, IIRC). From what I can see a lot of people want more and more of the known races. That is Minbari, Centauri, Narn and all.

How about the Dilgar? Back when the Starfury was state of the art? With new "old" ships that fired "old" weapons, when the Earth alliance was new, bold and victorious.

It is my all time favorite, because it creates the backdrop for everything we know.

Also the dilgar models created in this conversion and the older terran ones are FANTASTIC.

I know there are tons of ships to be done. I am a patient man. I just want to know if it is in consideration...

Cptwhite?

Thank you.

Some info on the Dilgar courtesy of B5tech.com

Thank you B5tech!

The xenophobic Dilgar Empire, faced with extinction when it was discovered their sun was about to go supernova lead a bloody campaign to capture territory and assure the survival of their species between 2229 and 2232. The Dilgar's murderous rampage across the quadrant was lead by the Sekhmet class Heavy Cruiser. This type vessel was the flagship of the Dilgar race and was considered a match for even the advanced warships of the Centauri Republic.

Measuring 1,200 meters in length, this class vessel was armed with numerous weapons, including X-ray Laser cannons similar to Centauri in design, pulse cannons, and heavy plasma cannons. This made the Dilgar Heavy Cruiser similar in power to a modern Hyperion or Omega class Destroyer and their artificial gravity technology and gravimetric propulsion put them on par with the Centauri. Some have even suggested that the Dilgar were more advanced than the Centauri and closer to the Minbari technologically.

The Sekhmet struck fear in every race in the quadrant. Even the blustering Narns backed down from confronting the Dilgar when their own defenses on the Narn colony of Halax VII proved ineffective in the face of the Sekhmet Heavy Cruiser's assault. By the time Narn forces arrived at the fallen colony it was learned that the Dilgar Warmaster Jha'Dur, better known as "Deathwalker", had experimented and infected the entire colonial populace with biogenic weapons, killing almost all the Narn colonists. After this attack, the Narn dared not stand in the way of the Dilgar invasion of the Nonaligned Worlds.

Fortunately for everyone in the quadrant, the Earth Alliance joined the battle against the Dilgar in late 2231 and, together with the surviving forces of the League, beat the Dilgar back to their homeworld. In 2232 the Dilgar were defeated and the Earth Alliance accepted their unconditional surrender. As part of that surrender Earth forces blockaded the Dilgar jump-gate, confiscated all the Dilgar's quantium-40 supplies as reparations and imprisoned the Dilgar in their home solar system. This imprisonment proved to be a death sentence however as the Dilgar's star went supernova a year later, wiping out the Dilgar and with them, the menace of the Sekhmet class Heavy Cruiser.

NOTE: Jha'Dur the "Deathwalker" was discovered to be alive in 2258. She had been sheltered by the Minbari Warrior cast "Wind-Swords" and attempted to sell an immortality drug to the highest bidder, but was executed by the Vorlons before she could reveal the secrets behind her immortality serum.

PS, the models in the Great Wars Dilgar are different to those of the B5tech, and much better in my humble opinion.

Anyone got pictures of these Dilgar craft anywhere? Seems like the sites screen shots section does not work. Are these the same as the ones from AoG.

The Dilgar are on the radar of the TBP team. Tomcat in particular has an interest in that time period so its a definate possibility in the future.

Probably about release 5 , we'll get there eventually

I'm sure the ships in the mod will be good, I am actually invovled in a limited sense with the Great Wars team. I did some table setup's for their teams, and play testing. (hence there inlcusion in my sig)

my question is, if they had all that hi-tech stuff, how did the EA manage to beat them so badly? Just overwhelm them with sheer numbers?

Posted by Edwin on 03-27-2003 03:18 AM:

apparently the combined forces of the EA, League, Centauri and (mabey) Narn was enough to do this

The EA helped the league beat the Dilgar. It wasn't 1v1. Plus I think the Narn were involved. And the Dilgar were more focused towards specialty technology (biological/chemical) than direct weapons technologies... which were just a bit better than Earth's.

But Earth was by far the largest power on the good guys' side, and there were huge even-sided bloody battles.

It was a fun mod to work for... Shadegrown is a magician... I hope I can find some screenshots and dilgar specs, if I do, I'll post them.

It's great to hear the possibility of having the Dilgar at some point. I have the B5 Wars Dilgar War supplement which contains a fully detailed history of the entire war from 2228-2232. There is complete info on all races involved and some pictures of EA and Dilgar ships of the period, unfortunately I don't have a scanner to upload these. I know I saw some miniatures of the Dilgar ships somewhere I can look for them again if you guys need them.

If you guys need any info I can provide with this supplement please let me know.

I think I know of some of the pictures of Dilgar ships. I like those better than some of the other ones floating about the net. We'll probably go for one or two fighters and a couple of capital ships to round things out nicely.

What we definately do not have is story info. When we eventually get there, having that kind of resource would be great. Till then!

Well if enough sources and models were found I'd gladly put together a Dilgar War campaign for TBP.
