In-Game Subspace
I know this may be a old thead but anyway, I know this is currently impossble for Freespace 1/2 but would it be cool if we are able to enter subspace and exit subspace in mission, not having to stop and switching to other mission... like Star Wars Alliance or something... I just thought that would be neat...

Yeah...
just like entering a nebula and going out of it without switching missions...
Just a little dream of mine down the drain.
That feals better.

If you're going from a realspace battle to a subspace battle, it is much, much easier on the mission designer to just use a red-alert. There's very little reason to change it, since the red-alert works quickly and you don't have to restart the WHOLE mission if you die in subspace.
The edges of nebulae, also, are very poorly defined. You would have to fly for days to get from a dense nebula to open space. What would be very nice and useful is if we had variable density nebulae.

You can. First replace one of the nebula poofs with an all green one, and it will be transparent. It makes the nebula seen thinner. Then make a background that is black with a few white pixels on it to represent brighter stars that manage to shine through, and away you go.
