About engine glows...
Yes. Well... Okay.
I was thinking about those capitalship engines. When they are staying still why in hell are the engines on? Like in the episode where Sheridan "liberated" Proxima ('No surrender, no retreat' was it?) we see the Omega speed away to intercept the Whitestars. It's engines start glowing only when it starts to move.
In the TBP source code thingy that Bobboau did a while ago Starfury had glows in all thrusters. Yes? I think he mentioned that the size of the glows is defined by the direction of the ships movement, do I remember correctly? (I tried to search it but were apparently too tired to find anything...)
Could this be extended to capships as well? Of course that code should be modified a bit to make the engines go 'off'. All Starfurys thrusters are not 'on' all the time anyways...
What do you think?

Sounds good, it would look good when Hyperion (or another Capship) makes a haste speedup on battle (assuming you get in angle to see it).

I thought of this too, when thinking about The Fall of Night, where the G'Quan powers up it's engines to move to the jump gate. It would be quite nice visually to have this.

kind of thing you might see in future releases, probably not v2.0 or v2.1 though

Another great example is in Endgame, when Sheridan orders the Aggie to ram the last G.O.D. satellite. It seems the engines only need to fire for a brief time to get up to speed though. I guess that would probably be a bit complicated though, and the normal way would work better, unless there's a way to only have them glow when accelerating, rather than just moving.

that would be complex.
something simple wouldn't cut it unless there is a tag for accelerating already in existance. in which case you could put something like
if accelerating=1
then
glow
end
but only if those are valid tags.

the correct term for that would be programmer. I know just enough C++ to make uninteresting things happen.
