Space Shuttle Columbia

Today the Space Shuttle Columbia was destroyed on re-entry.
pResident Bush has stated that the space program will go ahead.

I think JMS said it best.

"Ask ten different scientists about the environment, population control, genetics and you'll get ten different answers, but there's one thing every scientist on the planet agrees on. Whether it happens in a hundred years or a thousand years or a million years, eventually our Sun will grow cold and go out. When that happens, it won't just take us. It'll take Marilyn Monroe and Lao-Tzu and Einstein and Morobuto and Buddy Holly and Aristophenes .. and all of this .. all of this was for nothing unless we go to the stars."

Ya, I heard it on flashpoint forum. First I though it was just a comlink failure, until I saw the thing crashing on tv.

Bush is right about this one. The space program should continue (after all bugs are taken care off). I'd like to see mankind colonize mars in my lifetime...

Well I see we have a new member of the "Screw the Pilot Club."

The re-entry is computer controlled. They're looking at various mechanical and airframe issues. But it's far too early to tell.

actually 'shrak, it is in theory and practce, 100% fail-safe. i think it more likely that a control circuit blew. they were talking about the tire being over-inflated, it one+ popped, lots of things could go wrong becauseof it.

Yes its computer controlled and apparently it lost its sensor reading throughout the shuttle and began to roll uncontrollably which may have led to structural intergrity loss and the destruction of the shuttle.

Ashrak is you are gonna have an attitude like that don't bother posting at all. I personally have very little tolerance for ignorant people like you. You have no damn clue as to what happened yet you jump to conclusions like that. At least show some respect for these poeple because they deserve it.
