Campaign Idea

Hello,

I know i ain't a FRED'er or anything else vital to a good FS2 Campaign, but i had a thought, have any of you thought what it would be like to be a shivan and fight the Terrans and Vasudans?

For example, the first campaign can be where the shivans discover the Terrans and Vasudans in their war with each other.

I am not very good at this, before i went to secondary school, i had a great Imagination and i wrote little stories at Primary School and my english at the time thought they were great and always looked forward to the sequals if there were hinted with: 'To Be Continued' or 'The End.........or is it?'

We don't really need to follow on from the Main Games' storylines do we?

Let me know what you think

i believe Kazan or somebody else (maybe not kazan.. it was like a year and a half ago) tried to make this same campaign.. what it would be like for the shivans with you playing for them.

Needless to say it died.

I don't really like the idea anyways, I takes mystery away from the Shivans and it would/is/has been uber hard...

That would be way too easy to play and wouldn't give any pleasure to play, since it dont give much opponent.

Mayby a normal single player mission, but campaign would come too easy or they would think that what kind of Shivan are these? Not any heavy cap ships? Overrunned by GTVA?

Well you might get somewhat good campaign if you make it after FS2 as those Shivan remenants that got to GTVA systems after destruction of Capella. But if you do that, remember Shivan wouldn't have much ships, only few.

LadyRose, tell me why it would be too easy to play and would be of little pleasure.????

you guys are weird.

why would it be too easy?

Why would they be over-ran by the GTVA ???

there are dozens of subspace nodes too unstable for travel, the GTVA can't travel them, but the Shivans can.

Besides, the Shivans have Tons of ships, all the ideas i come up with are virtually shunned and told to be ****. (not in those words, but similar, none the less.)

Nevermind, my idea has been scrubbed.

What Lady Rose probably means is that it wouldn`t be much fun to play as the shivans in most cases because the shivans have a fleet of saths around so you couldn`t really build the tension up (Every time the GTVA won you`d be just think "yeah, yeah. So they won this one. Send in the saths")

If you make a shivan campaign you need to make sure there is some tension there. The first meeting between shivans and GTA/PVN might work if you make it clear that the shivans aren't getting any back up.

but what makes you think that i am going to make a Campaign with the SJ Sathanas in it?

Besides, i ain't much of a FRED'er, i need help with that, but i can try to help with the story.

But the campaign doesn't have to be in league with the main Freespace Storyline, it could be completely different, in this campaign, all the Sathanas are in the other side of the Galaxy.

the strongest ship they have is the Lucifer, and this one doesn't have that invulnerability shield thingy.

I want to make a campaign that will be remembered.

Karajorma got me pretty much right.

I mean that Shivan ships are heavily superior to GTVA ships, even Lilith (or Cain) can be menance to Orion or other ships, like kaj said tension is missing easily.

Besides would it be fun to play way too easy campaign? But if you want make a campaign go ahead I'm not one to stop you

well, i don't find Shivan ships superior to GTVA ships and i play it on INSANE Setting.

my wingmen die in about 5 seconds, but i thrash them all.

But i don't see why on Very Easy, the AI hardly shoots at you and you recharge VERY fast.

But on INSANE, the AI fire like they have Unlimited Energy and your energy takes AGES to recharge.

thats not really fair.

well, if it is on the hardest difficulty, it should be unfair, but i think the AB recharge and the weapons and shields' recharge rate should be the same, no matter the difficulty.

So, you think i should concentrate on being in the GTVA???

even if i did, i would need help, but i am sure no one will help, since i tend to do things by myself since no one wants to help me.

A shivan campaign could work but there are some major problems with it.

In a fair fight shivans tend to kill terrans. So this time the terrans would need to be present in greater numbers in every mission.

Now one idea you might want to run with is the run in between a shivan scouting squad and the GTI before the lucifer arrived on the scene.

It's widely suspected that the GTI did meet the shivans before the attack on Ross 128. Now if you start with the premise that the shivans scouts are present in low numbers and that the jump node between Ross 128 and shivan space is only stable enough for use by the shivans every couple of weeks (so the invasion of the lucfier can`t occur during the campaign) you have something that has a little more tension.

Another idea is the shivans after the end of Silent Threat trying to avoid being hunted down and killed.

Those are just a couple of examples I cobbled together in a minute or two so I`m sure you could come up with a good reason why the shivans are present in low numbers with no back up.
