It's more than likely a spider program that got your email from a news or forum post. We don't give out any email addresses to third parties.

You are not the only one getting those e-mails... annoying actually.

I get at least one of those each day. And countless others. It pisses me off.

Maybe they would understand the pyschology of the situation. I hate in your face advertising, more like advertising and the less I'm going to even pay any attention to them.

Get a frickin clue advertisers. I'm not interested...if I was, I'd seek you out wouldn't I?

Don't put your email address in your signature and the spambots won't get it ...

Well, I believe this would be the appropriate place to point out cloudmark.com.

Right, but it would be also nice if you could actually use profile and send emails if you have something to say. But no...

That's what the private message system is for

General rule of thumb: NEVER put your email address on a publicly-viewable website/internet page/whatever. The spambots WILL get it.

On the other hand, you can do something like this:

"email me at remora.dontspam@nospamyoubiotches.volitionwatch.com" and tell what to remove cuz spambots aren't that smart (yet)

note: the reason why email features are disabled is because of spam. with the email features on, your address will probably be publicly-viewable ... haven't tested it much, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Posted by Mr. Fury on 10-23-2002 12:45 PM:

Fine reason, but can't you let users to decide whether they wants their addresses to be shown in profile or not? Although there's a small possibility that spambot will get it.

Alright, I have said what I had to say.

I know...it just sort of amuses me. And annoys me.

I think my e-mails on my siggy, anyway. It's a spam risk, but it's easier for people to contact me for any reason.

The pace is to fast. You just won't last.

The worst have to be those emails with gigabytes of webpage images inside. Makes my 56k cry.
